    Half aka middle of the screen should be at your eye level. The 42" is just a rough estimate for average people sitting on an averagely high couch.

    Definitely the OLED in that case (if you aren't worried a lot about burn-in), the Q80T only has few dimming zones and you'll not have super deep blacks and see some blooming.
    You'd either want a Q90R or a Q9FN to not have to worry about these issues (the 2020 T models are actually much worse when it comes to dimming and blacks, I guess they wanted to cut costs).

    I just killed my 55” plasma during a move. I’m depressed. I loved that tv. What should I buy to replace it? I’d like to go 65.” I rarely play my ps4, just watch lots of movies. Can I get something good under $1500?

    Update: clearly not happening at $1500. Looking at the lg cx for $2200 and the sony ah8 at $2500. Is the ah8 worth $300 more? Anything else I should be looking at?

    Sorry to hear about the plasma. Surprised actually, they're very sturdy (and heavy). A dying breed.

    $1500 65in TV? See if you can find the LG B9 anywhere. You're trading off on a few things but still get picture quality on par with the CX.

    Long time plasma junkie here (still have two panny plasmas in my house). Go LG OLED and don’t look back. Makes my plasmas look dated. I was shocked.

    Thanks y’all. The plasma took a three foot fall onto the corner....worst case scenario.

    LG or Sony OLED seems like the way to go. The B9 looks solid, but tvtronix is the only site I can find it, and I can’t figure out if they’re reputable. I see I just missed some nice sales on the cx and ah8. I might just watch rockets games on the iPad for a month and see if I can’t catch another sale.

    Alright, I settled on the 77” lg cx after seeing it displayed above the 65” at Costco haha. I’m going to give it a month to see if I can catch a sale or for it to show up in stock on Greentoe (thanks, Ziggy. I hadn’t heard of that).

    @Yung-T nice thread. Can you see the C9 (or similar model) at about 55” dropping to 1k or under anytime soon? My PS5 is in the Mail and I’m probably do for an upgrade.

    Y’all missed out on the black Friday deals, that was probably the last good time to buy of the year. If you can wait till after the new models come out in 2021 there will probably be more deals on the 2020 models.

    Got the LG 65" UN73 on black Friday for $479 at costco. Haven't unboxed it yet but I have some time off this week so probably soon. Gonna mount it on the brick outside on my patio.
