ClutchFans Game Thread: Spurs @ Rockets 12/17/2020 (Preseason)

Wow what a breath of fresh air to have a mobile big man with a shooting touch and poise that makes him miles better than what Capela or RoCo offered. Harden might really need to rethink this. Gordon looks much better and if Wall and Cousins are healthy, this might be easily the 2nd best Rockets team he’s been on. Even if he leaves I feel positive that this team can make noise.

Speaking of noise, what’s with the 1 crowd celebration stuck on loop they played after each made basket? So generic and even for the opponent...while the atmosphere is not much different from when we had fans, at least make the chants loud, have multiple basket celebrations and the PA announcer up there doing his thing.

So Gerald Green is a vet and I guess Silas wanted to see his rookies, but why do still fear a cut or doghouse coming? In any case, love how Ben and even Gordon felt comfortable shooting long 2s! Another breath of fresh air, no more forced trees!!!

Christian Wood is exactly what Harden needed all this time. Gordon is also being used now to maximize his game and with Wall running the second unit with Cousins this is the most talented and deepest team I have seen yet. Harden is not going anywhere mark my words.

wow Wood is pretty dang good watched the game late last night. He's going to be a 20/10 guy for the next 5 years barring injury. Needs to add some weight, and he's definitely a 5 and not a 4. He's got good feet, but I dont think he could hang guarding 4's every night. IMO a guy who you could spotlight every night. He's comfortable with the ball and has a bunch of different moves. Im having a hard time not going full Kelvin Cato on this guy so Im really hoping he continues this trajectory. Makes me feel better about the balance of the team regardless of what Harden decides to do - Wood can be the catalyst. Nice to have some positive vibes and a light at the end of the tunnel.

Sure seemed to me that Wood and James had immediate chemistry. Wood gushing at times with the passes he was receiving. James seemed to enjoy running off picks again and having his way in the paint. Would be cool to see what that could turn into - having some youth around James instead of always having these old veteran squads.

whatever happens I feel content as a Rocket fan .. no need to slander James on what he's going to do or not do and am hopeful the team is in good hands moving forward. Players make culture at these levels, not managers and it looks like we have a good group of guys. Excited for the season to start.

 

Ironically enough. Harden ends up being traded and gets tossed by the rockets in the championship

I was thinking the same thing last night I just think Davis is level better athlete and defender ,with that said I think Wood may have a better skill set offensively.

We have the #1 of any NBA Lottery. Christian Wood..... 1st game action since March. It ain't easy to do what he did in his first game. Those are #1 pick stats. He probaly had a better 1st pre-season game than Zion. We went from dark days, to brighter days ahead.

 

Just watched the highlights, my goodness did Wood look good!

Saw more midrange this preseason than the entire regular season.
What’s was the shot distribution since harden returned and before he returns?
