    Hey Palm,

I tried to email you through the board but I got it returned.

Go to the Strokes thread, pronto, as I have asked you (along with rudager and a couple of others) some questions on some Indie CDs!!

    Hurry!:D

DMB's All Along the Watchtower and Cortez the Killer
Zac Maloy does a badass cover of Okie from Muskogee. Of course, that's not classic rock.

The only one worth mentioning from my perspective is American Woman - Lenny Kravitz.

I was at a Jeff Buckley show in 1995 and his band tore into "Kick Out the Jams," outta nowhere. Pinned my ears back, great version.

I have a bootleg of Jason Mraz doing Summer Breeze (Seals & Croft), which is great.

Joan Osbourne does a bunch of covers on her new CD.

Jonatha Brooke - Eye in the Sky (Alan Parsons Project)
Jonatha Brooke - God Only Knows (Beach Boys)
Goldfinger - I Love You More Today Than Yesterday (Spiral Starecase)
Alason Krauss - Baby, Now That I've Found You (the Foundation)
Billy Joel - To Make You Feel My Love (Bob Dylan)
Eric Clapton - Born in Time (Bob Dylan)
    Dixie Chicks - Landslide
Seal - Fly Like an Eagle (Steve Miller Band)
Seal & Jeff Beck - Manic Depression (Jimi Hendrix)

Those are just off the top of my head. I like hearing well-known artists do covers. It's happening more and more as it gets harder and harder to find artists with good songs. The next logical step is to have them do covers.

Both Foo Fighters' Baker Street cover and Radiohead's Wish you were here cover are both on the Essential Interpretations CD (2 disc set) put out by EMI I think.

For good classic rock covers try these:

Smashing Pumpkins - Dancing in the moonlight - Thin Lizzy
Derek Trucks Band - Too High - Stevie Wonder
Bauhaus - Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie

BTW, iad2k: Take me to the River was done by the staple singers

The Smashing Pumpkins actually do a superb version of that song.

    Without the solo?

I prefer the Butthole Surfers version.

Yep, but I like their cover of "Destination Unknown" (originally done by Missing Persons) the best.
