Exactly. I remember when the whole cast was replaced all at once with a bunch of unknowns. I thought the show was dead. Those 'unknowns' were cast members like Will Ferrell, Cheri Oterie, Molly Shannon, Darrall Hammond, etc. They ended up saving the show. SNL may have it's ups and downs but it will never die. As far as Mad TV, that show is unwatchable unless you're in high school. I'm still pissed that Comedy Central replaced the old SNL's with that booger-nugget of a show. I don't think I've ever so much as cracked a smile while watching it.
Rachel Dratch is terrible. Nora Dunn was not too good either. Julia Sweeney had "Pat" and that was it. I had issues with Victoria Jackson's voice as well. The chunky girl that did the Delta Delta Delta skits had a hilarious Jan Brady bit, and another one where she was Amy Fisher. Beautiful! She also did a great Tori Spelling.
I have a friend that works at Second City in Chicago. He claims that she is terribly under-utilized at SNL. Apparently, she's hysterical.
if you say you have never laughed during mad tv i hope then that you have never seen the black guy on there doing the skit playing a spastic ups guy. that stuff was too funny.
I don't see how Norm MacDonald can possibly be considered less funny as a Weekend News anchor than the Fey/Fallon combo. MacDonald almost single-handedly carried SNL for nearly two years; Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon only look good because they were the successors to Colin Quinn, who was in my opinion the worst SNL news anchor of all time.
UGH, I hate MAD TV.....pisses me off. I wish Comedy Central still ran SNL Skits....I bearly ever (if ever) laugh at Madtv.
i think rachel dratch is one of the funniest women in snl history. shes like will ferrell in that just looking at her and some of her mannerisms cracks me up. i would say that the female cast members are all pretty good (amy poeler, maya rudolph and especially tina fey - she is smart and sexy). right now the chicks are carrying the show.
Yeah, Maya Rudolph is great. She's hot too. She's got some funny recurring characters that I like. Donatelo Versachi, the ghetto chick at the post office, the dorky high school chick doing the tv show, Beyonce, etc. She's very funny.
I think you're referring to Chris Parnell. I think he is OK. Fallon doesn't impress me. I didn't like Dratch at first but she has improved.
I am still hoping to get Tina Fey over to my house for a private "Naughty Librarian" sketch...but thus far, no luck.
Kattan was the guy that I could stand. I hated practically all of his signature characters. I hate, hate, hate Mango. Worst character ever.
