I like what I see and hear thus far from Silas, but he is clearly not the coach for the current squad. Had Harden not blocked JVG, he would have been much more the coach/disciplinarian this group needs. After the news of today where this team lacks discipline, bringing in a soft spoken rookie coach is only going to enable Harden even more than in the past. John Lucas obviously lacks discipline as well and that is why he was Harden’s first choice. Not the time for a rookie coach, as he will quickly lose the respect of other players as Harden/Tucker walk all over him.
Wrong. After this mess, he will be the perfect coach. Also he has been pretty good. The media just needs to stop asking him about Harden. it all points out that this will be Harden last season here or probably he is traded before the trade deadline.
Id rather get rid of the grown men who lack discipline, than find a babysitter for them. The team isnt good enough, championship level, to be pampered and catered to.
I’m on record of saying that long ago before the hiring. Westbrook and Harden are two older dogs that love them some iso too much. Trying to give them JVG or Silas is like trying to take a bone away from a Pit Bull. Not a good idea. That’s why I was pushing John Lucas. I also said it is not fair to Silas, as a rookie head coach. His first head coach gig should have been with a team coming up from rock bottom......not headed towards it in a rebuild. Oh well, just two years ahead of schedule. Hope he can survive the rocky crash landing to rock bottom. Unfortunately Silas will get labeled a bad coach just like John Lucas did with those god awful teams with Cavs and Sixers. Just have to overcome these things.
What do you mean? He will be perfect for us once the mess is over. Wall and Cousins have looked very pleased and happy so far and James won't be here for long.
Silas seems like the perfect hire to me. I don't get the impression that he's easy to run over. Seems like he has a good even keel approach and wants to keep the focus on basketball. He's not here for the drama. Save the drama for ya momma type of guy.
So you expect him to put these grown ass men in TO? No. He’s handling this mess like a true maestro. He’s taking every question regarding Harden to the chin and has yet to be knocked out. Don’t let his soft spoken demeanor fool you, players have already said that he holds everyone accountable or and that’s all you can ask for from a coach. You don’t need to yell to get your point across, ask Doc how that went. Building relationships allows you to be respected as a coach not yelling or exposing grown ass man.
JVG leaving his cushy job at ESPN for this fckery would’ve been a humongous L a higher power was looking out for him when he got passed on for this job
