I am okay with the CP’s contract. I understand we have to roll the dice with him. Likewise I was not mad at some of the transactions that didn’t pan out such as the Lawson trade because they made sense. But some of his moves simply made no sense at all.

Should have kept either one of Lowry or Dragic. People say the pick we got from the Lowry trade got us Harden but the fact is it could have been done with our own pick too.

Morey also said the player option in Dragic’s contract made him untradeable but Phoenix got 2 first round picks out of him. On the other hand we attached a first round pick to unload Lin.

Not bringing back Faried was a HUGE mistake too. This after he saved our season

He spent his MLE and roster spots on unproven rookies (i.e. KJ McDaniels, Kostas Papanikolaou etc.) way too much and rarely use it for veterans who can help us win. Our teams were always shorthanded.

He made a lot of mistakes.

But no amount of Clutchfans whining can erase that he presided over the 2018 would-have-been-championship season.

Everything since then was pure garbage.

Also, OP was too salty about #10 to remember the terrible moves around Marquise Chriss, Brandon Knight, Iman Shumpert, Michael Carter Willliams, Carmelo Anthony (still don't know whose fault that whole divorce was) and ahem, one Russell Westbrick.

Acquiring Knight and Chriss was okay. Mistake was trading them along with a FRP for Shumpert. Knight’s expiring could have been useful in the offseason. But I suspect Tilman forced him to get under the tax line so I will give hin the benefit of doubt.

Her: “Your Honor, as listed in Exhibit A, my ex slept with another man on January 3rd, was irresponsible with our assets, and murdered a small child.”

Him: “woah woah woah, judge. She is cherry picking!”

Her: “He’s right, he also slept with another man on January 4th, February 7th, and June 19th. And it wasn’t his first murdered child.”

Morey made a lot of mistakes. Anyone know the quote of Harvey Specter in suits where he's like " I was here working for 16 hours a day in my early days - now no one would ever question my work ethic." or something along these lines.
That 16 hours a day is the Harden trade. Ever since then he's always bought high on players and sold low.

Some of his signings were inexplicable, he wants to play Moreyball but keep bringing in players who can’t shoot.

Traded 2016 first round pick for Ty Lawson
Traded 2017 first round pick for Lou Williams
Traded 2018 first round pick to get rid of Lou Williams and bring in CP3, and his massive contract.
Traded 2019 first round pick for Brandon Knight and Marq Chris
Traded 2020 first round pick and Capela for RoCo, who would then be traded for a 2020 first round pick that was used to trade for Christian Wood (a player they had on their 2015 Summer League team)
    Tada. Full circle.

His biggest blunder by far was not picking up the option on Parsons to let him become an RFA and presumably lock him up longer term.

Ultimately it worked out with Parsons' injuries and our fallback being signing Ariza to what turned out to be a great deal. But it was dumb luck.

MCW was always about adding a potentially switchable defender to matchup with GSW and praying there was some way to have him not completely tank the offense while he was out on the court.

It was a worthwhile low cost gamble.

Not foreseeing that Miami was going to up their offer for Bosh and he would take it and in the meantime trading Lin and a draft choice to clear space was also not a shining moment.

For the record, I think Morey was great GM, though.

Giving up 57 first rounders to get Westbrick for one season.

Anyone can make an identical mistake list about any GM in the NBA. Lots of things can go wrong, injury, lack of chemistry, personality conflicts and more. It's impossible to foresee all of these things and each deal has a risk/reward analysis that has to be made.

DM was incredibly good at such analysis and has the highest winning percentage of any Rockets GM across a long tenure. What is even more impressive is DM typically had excellent plan B's associated with most deals he made. He made literally hundreds of deals during his time with the Rockets and a list like this that could be created for any GM is laughably unfair.

We didn't go because the NBA computers want LBJ and ratings. Silver sacrificed a Disney actor and the gods chose GSW. CP3 wasn't even really injured.
