instead of posting a new thread i'll weave some info into this one.
ESPN INSIDER: Their blue print for the Magic rebuilding gives posibble senarios on Tmac Trades. Memphis is the most likely candidate with Mike Miller (Tmac buddy) locked up. Also they have the most assets to give of any other team.
With Regards to Rockets: A SF for Tmac deal unlikely, Magic would want more.

Why does a baseball writer suddenly write a few basketball articles?

I agree with JV on this one. They are playing the Lakers. The Lakers are much, much better. That does not mean the Rockets suck.

    (sigh)
francis is not going anywhere. he and yao will be together for at least another 2 yrs most likely. his performance so far is the only reliable one on this team. i think we will move cat and probably mo, maybe even cato, but he makes a decent backup center.

either way, francis will be here next year.

i agree....i think francis will be here, but will be moved to the 2 guard where he won't have the burden of getting teammates involved and setting a tone...he'll simply be asked to score and rebound. The writer is right about the priorities being to grab a solid PF and a true, pass-first PG.

Is it just me or does it seem like this guy's entire article is based upon his own irritation at that fact that Cato and Mobley would not talk with him after practice? Very Blinberryesqe if you ask me.

I appreciate your insights, so well reasoned.

Yes, I believe that Stevie is not going to be a Rocket next season. I believe it because Stevie does not, by all apparencies, want to be a JVG Rocket.

No I don't think 'spoon morphs into Hapering. I had said, "Finally, is there a Jazz/Rice - type deal out there for 'spoon? I'd do the same deal with SLC for 'spoon (and resign him when he's cut). [Or take Harpering back.}" It was a wistful statement in the first part and toung in cheek on the second.

Yes, I can foresee the future hallincogenically free.

I actually want steve here but only if we get a point forward as in a small forward who can take point guard responsibilities ala lamar odom. write him down on the papers as point but let him be our ballhog/scorer. a new powerforward would do us some good too. I love what Cato brings to this team but he isn't someone I want starting next to Yao. I really want mo out of here next season though. I really think we're paying way too much for a powerforward who can just score and plays no D. Get us a power forward that is a morph between Cato and Mo and I'd be happy. A player that has the tough D and rebounding abilities of Cato yet can shoot the open jumper like Mo.

Sounds like its on the right track but quite unappropriate to print this Article while we are still playing. Its abusive to pressure our players while they are still trying their best to prove themselves worthy of being a Rocket.
If I was the Editor I would have fired him and his supervisor for letting this be printed at this date. Stands to common sence.

What made it kinda silly was Justice was suggesting we pick up Duhon with our 2nd round pick (55th overall) and have him start. If he's good enough to start, why isn't he picked higher than 55th? If he is end-of-the-draft quality, how will he beat Mobley and Francis for a starting position?

Any significance in them not specifying point guard? The whole tone of the article is singling out Mobley and Cato.

    So, Mobley+ Cato + TE to.....? ;)

There is no doubt that this team will be significantly changed this summer. Its obvious that a PF and PG are needed, but we need to add depth badly. MoT was basically our only bench player this year, we had one of the worst bench's in the league last year.

I think if we package one of the guards + Cato or MoT + TE, we could come out with a nice deal. If I had to pick one of the guards to go, I'd pick Mobley, Steve still has the talent and ability to be great. Take the ball out of his hands, make it someone else's responisbility to create for others (Barry). Look at the stats, Steve was the only one to have assists this year, no one else was even close.

Signing Barry and SAR would be huge for this team. They are both team players that can hit shots.

This loser is just angry that Cuttino and Cato didn't talk to the press as much as he wanted.

I think JVG will keep Cat if he has a choice between Steve and Cat

Well, I like SAR. He isn't the tough power forward that JVG has in mind, however, so I don't know if he would even be considered. Maybe yes, IF Les wants to cut payroll (re-signing SAR for more of a deserving contract when his current contract expires after next year).

But we'd have to give up somebody to get him; and we would just be helping reinforce another Western Conference team.

Signing Barry could be a possibility, but probably only in a sign-and-trade that also netted us either Ray Allen or Rashard Lewis, because Les balks at crossing the luxury tax.

There was that online Chronicle poll that asked if the Rockets would make it past the first round. Around 33% voted yes. I don't know which is worse.

I also think Francis will still be here I hope JVG can move him to the 2 guard and atleast move mobley to 6th man and see how this team would work til the trading deadline and if it doesn't another change has to be made, but I hope this can work.
