Another want to be expert on all things winning. WTF does you working for the government mean to anything about this. LOL.
This line from the Clippers article sums up my thoughts well: "Stars getting benefits other guys don't get is to be expected to some extent. When you're one of the best players in the world, and responsible for so much of the success, the organization is going to take care of you. Fair or not, that's just how it works. At a certain point, though, a line can be crossed where that arrangement starts negatively affecting other players, and that's when things can go bad." This is not some all or nothing thing. You can do what you can to make your superstars happy, but you have to draw the line at some point and not let it get ridiculous.
They didnt lose because of CULTURE though. They lost because Doc made questionable coaching decisions. And look at what happend, dude's are gone and the superstars stayed. The Warriors had horrible chemistry their final Durant year, but they still went to the finals. Okay, but why would they want to be here if they thought the situation was so toxic??? Because he's done it since he's gotten here? He cares very much what people think about him. Harden's value isnt gonna tank more than what teams already know about him? You think teams dont already know or cant find out about Jame Harden, no. This is all info teams are already privy, everything else is saving face to the public.
one of the funniest things I read on here is when regulars on this board compare their little day jobs where they say yes mam and yes sir all day to professional sports
He's done it since he's gotten here? You just said 'why has nothing come out in Harden's entire career until now'? Again, it's not an all or nothing thing. I don't think it's some super toxic environment that no player would ever want to play in - clearly, Wall and Boogie want to play with a top 5 player that gives them a much better chance to win a ring. But you can still acknowledge Harden isn't blameless in this situation and the team probably went too far catering to him. I'm a bit disappointed Harden doesn't seem to be the leader I thought he was. That's all. Not the end of the world.
Im talking about Tillman lying and protecting his image. He's not that leader, but he can be the best player on a championship. Im not saying he isnt blameless, he never has been. Everyone knows that his failings and everyone knows how stupid he was for that Westbrook trade. The point is, now every one is blaming him for the Rockets, now its Morey and Dantoni's fault for not being able to win. Now its MOREY who quit on the Rockets because James woulndt sign an extension.
I can tell by reading this thread who will be successful as a company leader, and who won't.... Get that coffee....youmg buck!!!! And that is a company stapler!!! DD
I don't know what website your reading or what Rockets fans you are talking to. Everything I see suggests Rockets fan despise Tillman and blame him for almost all of the Rocket's problems. I don't think I've seen a single person blaming Morey?
Oh now they do, that's what Macmahon and other are giving out. Morey quit on the Rockets, but oh wait now Morey quit because he knew James was leaving. Now most people are against Harden in this situations. Which is fine, he isnt going about it the right way but, the narrative is now changing.
It's more than likely you're not anywhere near the age of that old head. DD took over as the biggest old loser on this site after, one of a former cf's member holic was banned over a year ago. Holic had much of the same shitty posts and DD has taken after him. He's one of the worst and broke dude on cf's acting like something he isn't. He lacks any sort of quality that he tries to use his supporting member $5 donation to try and look down on others whether they have donated or not. It's the same loser that complains about a $1 chronicle article from Feigan that he tried to read. And he made a fuss about it and didn't pay lol. For awhile he was a running joke on twitter from people that couldn't stand his posts on here. Now people are just use to his trash This is all you need to remember anytime you see his posts. it puts it in perspective
You make that $103 million offer to stay even through he's the culprit of the toxic culture for the same reason you let him be the culprit all these years -- because he's worth it. That's the calculus Morey and company used: Having a player that good is worth sacrificing the culture. It's not that you don't notice it, it's a conscious decision.
He is in shape. He didn’t show up on time but that was done on purpose. What would be nice would be for Harden and the Rockets to sit down and figure this out or trade him.
You and I must have vastly different opinions of what “in shape” is. Technically round is a shape so you’re not wrong? This is what Harden looked like in the off-season before his MVP year. He didn’t show up on time for camp and he didn’t show up on time for the bubble either. Done on purpose, legit family reason or not fact of the matter is that he was late.... both times. Knowing his affinity for partying and late nights was he late last time cause he was out doing the same ****? I’m sure you’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and not think much of it but forgive me for wondering. What about next time? https://clutchpoints.com/rockets-ne...y-his-trip-to-orlando-bubble-was-delayed/amp/
This thread has the vibe of a nasty divorce, with the kids fighting amongst themselves and taking sides! The truth is, there’s plenty of blame to go around! From the owner, to the front office, to the players, they ALL have a part in creating the mess that we’re in at the moment! For all the money that Tilly has, we all know he’s a cheap penny pincher, that has to change! For all the clever moves that Fat Elvis did in trying to build a championship team, he never was able to see them more than assets! That has to change! I don’t care how much money the players make, there’s a certain thing called respect that we all crave deep down! For all the great offensive schemes DToony could think of he was horrible at making adjustments and making everyone on the team feel part of the team! That has to change! Using a third of your team as benchwarmers is demoralizing and counter productive! AND for all the amazing skills that Harden has as a basketball phenom, he’s never been able to understand that true leadership is not scoring 50 every night, it’s making yourself accountable to the team even though you score 50 every night! Abusing the rules that everyone else has to abide by causes resentment and is divisive to the team as a whole! That has to change! Perhaps the owner/front office gave James to much freedom and authority over the club, but that’s no excuse! He’s a 32 yr old man! And if he truly wants to win a championship here or elsewhere, he needs to change! Not changing players or teams, but rather by taking MJ’s advice, change starts with the man in the mirror!! I’m still hoping the divorce falls apart and both parties see that keeping the marriage intact is the best thing for everyone involved, including the kids on CF’s!! ....... ....... .......
Structure is the coach and management running the show , not the players. Allowing a player, whether a star or not .... to alter your travel schedule based on “partying” TF kinda environment is that? Allowing a star player to decimate your team by calling shots and making trades. YOU A BASKETBALL PLAYER , not an agent or GM. Go get paid to score more points than the other team and respect your coach and teammates .... poor culture
The difference in culture between working for a government entity and working at the Lids corporate office... I literally said that. That's why I said it. If you read what I wrote. Because you don't know what culture is, I was explaining it to you. It appears you still don't get it. Also, you kind of skipped over the rest of my post, but you don't have a rebuttal, which is why you directed your response to one sentence I typed. I'll let it go.
The culture has always been a problem. For the most part, it was managed effectively enough to the point the team almost won a championship. This phenomenon is not uncommon in any organization. Enter TF. Yes, we know he was the poison pill the polluted the well. From now until his name is still on the team. People need to understand Tilman. This is a guy who knows absolutely nothing about successfully managing leaders, talent and ego's. James Harden is his first employee (effectively) whom he acknowledges is more important than him. There are not many owners who would have traded CP3 and a load of picks for Westbrook. He was dumb enough to let JH walk all over him and the organization to facilitate this trade for JH. Anyone with any ball experience knows this was a bad trade, much less a worse combination. JH is A problem, but he is not THE problem. No matter what superstar this team picks up in the future, we have a very arrogant owner who does not know how to manage talent. Just look at Morey.
