Yo, my funky Clutchfans brothers. I have a question, how many of you funky fellas have heard about the senegalese band Orchestra Baobab? These african giants are still active after 50 years in the music industry. Give it a try, hopefully you'll like it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFsZkfC9Z6Q&ab_channel=ton1ton1ton1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUIHoph6vYs&ab_channel=PsychoPhono https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swq9LRu6E3c&ab_channel=WorldCircuitRecords https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2Bo_DG4Ir8&ab_channel=WorldCircuitRecords
been a fan for 20+ years. if you're into cuban music you should check them out. its interesting to hear an african band doing cuban influenced music as cuban music is greatly influenced by west african music...the circle is complete daniel-son. the guitar solo at 2:25 is quite tasty.
theres also a french reggae band called baobab. french & reggae should not be two words that go together, but i love this song.
Someone leaked that @Deckard was backpacking through Europe at the time and made a cameo in this video as one of the hot dancing guys. See if you can figure out which one is the legend...
First off, you need a better copy! Alas, I wasn’t in this Finnish classic, but I was dating the little blonde at the time, Betsy (she told me it was how her incomprehensible name translated from the Finnish), who’s at the apex of the opening dance. She invited me to watch them film the production and, while you cannot see me, I stood off to the side watching with open mouthed astonishment. Betsy was quite the little minx in the sack. Very verbal, but I couldn’t understand what she was saying. She forgot to use English when she was excited. This is very popular in Japan, by the way. I have no idea why. Perhaps my daughter could translate some of the comments posted on YouTube one day. She’s fluent in Japanese. Thank you for bringing back such excellent memories! You will have to use the link that will pop up when you attempt to view the copy below:
