wow, i knew some of this, but this is way beyond appropriate to me. I can't believe it went that far ...extra days off so Harden could party? wtf

I remember a few years ago hearing that there was a real frustration within the team about a lack of accountability; that it didn't seem to apply to James. I remember thinking that was pretty credible. Well damn ...i'll say.

I feel bad for Silas. I like that guy.
But at this point I say blow it all up, change the culture now and start with the Herro package. I know it’s pennies on the dollar but they’re young and come from a program that is accountable.
Do we really want Wood and other young players in this atmosphere?

Yeah James Harden is such a bad guy that they attempted to sign him to a contract extension that would’ve payed him an average of 47 million dollars a year over the next 5 years.

This just shows the mistake was letting Harden get whatever he wanted. If Harden was a better person, a leader, it wouldn't be so bad, but Harden is the last person anyone needs to be listening to.

I don’t think it’s saying he’s a bad guy. I think it’s saying the culture established by management and Harden is a cesspool.

How much of this is really unique to James Harden? I would guess there are a lot of divas throughout the league. I think it would take a pretty humble and grounded personality to not let all the power they have over a franchise get to their heads. Certainly there are players like that, and they should be credited for it.

I don't doubt the facts presented in the article. But the reactions, especially from people who want to find any reason to hate James Harden, will probably be over the top.

Also, I wonder if Fertitta's backing of no-nonsense Jeff Van Gundy really rubbed Harden the wrong way. JVG would be the total opposite of what he's used to.

There is a difference between being coddled or pampered and doing what it takes to be successful. Lebron as much as I hate the guy gets to hand pick teams and I’m sure gets the red carpet treatment, but I don’t think there’s a question of being on time, work ethic and commitment.

Trade for Westbrook or I demand a trade...demands trade one year later anyways. “Trade me to Brooklyn!”

I mean he's a superstar that drops 50 point triple doubles of course you'd want him...how they manage the culture and JH is on the Rockets mgmt.

    Nook! Cyberx! Somebody!

I REALLY want to know who sourced this piece. It reads to me like either:
-Tilman trying to show why none of this is his fault.
-Morey trying to create upheaval and drive the price down.

MacMahon sources (like Feigen) are almost always from inside the org.

That was always all on Morey. He went above and beyond treatment of a superstar and he worshipped the ground they walked on.

Is it hard to believe that the organization catered to a superstar and without any accountability or rules it went down the toilet?
There is a line between leeway and outright chaos.

James needs to put on his big boy pants and at the very least address the uncomfortable questions publicly. it would be nice for anyone who has a rooting interest in the team to know exactly where he stands without these kinds of articles creating a sensationalist view and ultimately driving down the James Harden product. Players living a rock star/jet setting lifestyle in the NBA is not a new phenomenon and James being a young, single guy apparently has loved that aspect of his life even when it may have overlapped into his job.

If he unequivocally wants out, then he needs to keep doing what he's doing. looking like the good teammate on the court. producing (hopefully shooting better than 3/10 moving forward cough cough) and remind the world who he is - his brand is at an all time low and he's the only one who can salvage his legacy. I hate to draw parallels like this, but it wasnt until Dream focused his life on a more spiritual existence that everything came together for him. He was always supremely talented, at times hot headed and violent even. I think James needs a quick dose of maturity similar to that if its going to work out here otherwise he will move on and never be held accountable and expect everyone to keep pandering to his every whim. The petulant child is a bad look.

"inside the org" ... why would you trust sources from outside the organization on what the culture within the organization has been like? That the sources are from people inside the organization or formerly inside the organization should probably lend it more credibility, not less. It's not like it is a one-sided take down of Harden. No one comes out looking all that great.
