For real he showed up in an empty gym with no fans. There is no telling how they would actually play against teams on the road. I wouldn't overreact to anything that happened in the bubble. I mean Jamal Murray came out of nowhere and was throwing up 50 points games left and right.
I love Embid. He has all the skills of AD but plays bigger and has a mean streak. Health has always been the one thing that holds him back. But also their supporting cart with Harris and Curry flanking Harden would make it soo hard to double team him.
So what's amusing you? I said the same thing. Harden and Butler are slashers, with Harden capable of making step back 3s. They would need to replenish elite shooters on the fly. Giving up too many picks and Robinson is a grave mistake. Harden would arrive at a situation that he helped gutting.
I'd do it for Herro, Bam and Olynk with no picks. But the Heat aren't doing that. The Heat don't have enough assets they're willing to trade, as Plowman said.
Imagine believing a team without a single Top 50 player, no young players with star potential and missing multiple picks to OKC is “strong now and for the future.”... There’s a reason MDA, Morey and Harden wanted to gtfo.
That plus a first round pick, and I'll bite. They would have Harden, Butler and stuff. Harden and Butler, that's a title contender right there, even if you suit up Moochie Norris and Rafer Alston next to them.
The money doesn't come close to working. Miami would have to send another $15 million in salaries to Houston. Herro's a rookie who doesn't make anything worth mentioning (but under a rookie deal - sweet!), and Bam makes a little over $5 million (for the next 6 years - what a deal!). Olynyk "only" makes $12.6 million a year on an expiring deal. Harden makes $41.2 million a year. See? It's really difficult. I would be tempted, though.
I think Bam signed an extension so he gets paid like $28 million starting the next year. But yeah, sure, add some more salary.
I'd be fine with holding out for better offers. But I do have some fear the Rockets get Vince Cartered on the deal.
Out of left field, I think Ujiri will offer up Siakam, Normal Powell (cap filler) and a bunch of picks for Harden. This is the kind of deal he makes. Even with Siakam gone, the Raptors would still have a core of: Lowry VanVleet Harden Anunoby That should keep Toronto in the Top 3-4 in the East for the next couple of years with Harden still having 2+1 on his contract. Would that be enough for the Rockets? Who knows. I like Siakam, even with his flameout against the Celtics in the Playoff Bubble. He would complement well with Wall and Wood.
Not for me, i like Siakam but not as a max player, and even less i like the idea of having this team settled for years around him and Wall, that's a recipe for mediocrity imo.
It certainly doesn’t beat Simmons + picks but I think you’re underestimating the potential of Siakam and Powell. Siakam has potential to be an All-NBA level player, don’t let the bubble taint your view of him.
I know he didn't play well in the bubble but i never liked Siakam a lot to begin with so (he also started to chuck up a bit too much imo this season, i know with Kawhi gone he was kinda forced into that role, but still), on a max contract i just don't like him enough, he'll also turn 27 in few months so, i don't know, i just don't like him as the main piece of a Harden trade, and generally to the idea of being set with him and Wall going forward, for me that would be really bad.
If we got picks in addition to Herro and Robinson, then I'd certainly move Harden for it. Herro is the real deal. Mark my words.
Herro and Robinson for Harden is fair. Harden is getting up their in age. those two with Wall, Wood, and Demarcus can make some noise. Get rid of the cap hit and you may be able to lure a superstar to join the ranks.
I wouldn't put my hand on fire about this but i'm more close to this opinion then to the the one that he's going to be an all star (fwiw though, one player can be an all star a couple of times and i still wouldn't consider him an all star caliber player, see DeAndre).
