I wonder if the Rockets were trying to pull off the Woods deal with PJ and House instead of RoCo. That might have pissed PJ and James off enough for all of this BS. Even though the Rockets would’ve been a better team with RoCo instead of House and PJ, the Rockets did the deal with RoCo and received the extra draft picks. Or, maybe the Rockets were just looking to upgrade the 3/4 spot using PJ after the Woods trade. If that was the case then I wonder who they were targeting. Any guesses? It’s not surprising to me that they would shop Tucker. He’s the only player on the Rockets with positive trade value other than Harden.
I agree Magic should be Isaac's team, but JICYDK he is out for whole season. Magic may still want to contend in East so they will need Gordo replacement for this year (temp). Chicago make sense or reroute Mike Scott
i was bored and just spitballing ideas about some teams who could have some potential prospects, I thought why not Charlotte. Harden, Tucker, Clemmons for Rozier, Zeller, Monk, Bridges, and their picks for like the next 2/3 years. feel its a decent haul, Rozier could start or be a 6th man, Zeller is a serviceable big, and Monk/Bridges are decent prospects with upside. (they also have LaMelo or PJ Washington as young players), the critical part would be to get some picks back along with those players. Tucker and Clemmons go home to NC, Harden can team up with Hayward so they at least have the chance to contend and he'll be in the East, then he can be MJs problem lol.
Yes, Jonathan Isaac is out THIS season. And Chuma Okeke is showing up in TC and preseason as spacing 3ball shooter AND defensive presence. Aminu will be available later in the season as well. There are only so many mins at the 4 to go around. Especially when Magic have already committed to go away from AG as 1st option the last 2 seasons. Magic need more 3ball shooting, especially at starter, from guard position. They have needed this for YEARS.
I think EGo was who they wanted to use to trade for Wood, but he had no positive trade value and Rockets needed the FRP. PJ and House only generates 10M and Wood was going to cost more than that. And I doubt that PJ and House TOGETHER would have gotten the 2 FRP that RoCo got. But I feel your disappointment, RoCo would have made this team (with Wood) head and shoulders better than last year's team. Right now, without another major roster move, the team looks like a push to last season's. Not better, maybe not worse. Just different.
Chuma adds the long spacing 3ball shooter at the 4 spot that Magic have coveted for a decade. Chuma is Tobias Harris (who Magic regret giving away) WITH defense. Chuma and Isaac will complement each other to a "T". Vucevic, Chuma, Fournier, Hield, Fultz are a 5 Out team. Adding Isaac next season is pure frosting. Keeping AG just delays the hand off to Isaac and installing more wide open offense. Holding AG another season is reasonable but his departure is inevitable. Why not move him for Buddy Hield if you can?
yes, but he fits well with Simmons, so there’s that. Lavine, in some ways, might be an offensive version of Aaron Gordon. Uber athletic, never in a good situation, holes in his game that could be worked around. He’s only 25, so he’d fit well with our timeline.
Ryan Broekhoff got waived by the Sixers and we should sign him. Inheritly he's a bigger Ben McLemore. And will challenge for that back up SF position.
Except Lavine is putrid defensively. Agreed he is like a 6'6 version of AG on offense, better 3ball but not as good of a playmaker. But his defense is not fixable IMO, wingspan is 6'8 and his understanding of rotations and zone is terrible. Gives effort 1v1 but he gets lost all time in switches and rotations.
In my hypothesis the Rockets would not have received the two frp but one of them was vital to the Wood deal so, ya you’re right.
I think we will have to accept some of that to get a star-ish player that fits well with Simmons. The hope would be that Silas can beat good defense into him. obviously Beal is ideal, but his price tag is also much higher.
Yep, Beal next to Simmons would be ideal. In the interim, I'd rather focus on bringing Aaron Gordon to pair with Harden, Wood, Wall. If Harden leaves next season for Simmons then AG be sold high since his 1 season with Harden will max his value. Or if Harden traded to Heat, then AG will be better fit with those players. AG gives Rockets the most options right now.
