The odds of an R judge, especially in swing state, going along to get along with the #trumpcoup is not high, IMO.
So your theory is that the only reason why they voted the way they did was because they knew they didn't have the power in the end?? What's the purpose of the party minority even having a vote if their votes aren't to be taken seriously? The right certainly does not play by those same rules. Look at how they freak out when someone on the left votes for Medicare for All or a Green New Deal which are the ultimate show votes under the current administration. Why are Republicans allowed to be held to different standards where we are supposed to shrug off when they vote for the overthrow of Democracy, but we all are supposed to go scorched earth at Democrats when they vote for expanding health insurance to those in need or for saving the planet from imminent doom?
No, all I said is that it was not a sure thing any given R judge would vote yes. But your theory is plausible.
