Lol. Know their place on a dysfunctional team? Yea dumb. Bev & Wall would absolutely DESTROY opposing guards on defense. Bev is also a selfless locker room guy who's effort is infectious. Get it done Stone
A lot of teams around the NBA would be interested in acquiring either player. I don’t think the Rockets are one of those teams though.
The NBA is a superstar driven league. Role players that complain and cause problems don’t last long. All the players that went after Leonard and George are gone or are being pushed out the door.... The Rockets don’t need that type of issue in the locker room. The Rockets already have a better perimeter defender on the bench than Beverley in Nwaba. The Rockets also would have to deal Gordon for Beverley and that is a lower upside trade. The Rockets are a poor match.
Paul George & Kawhi are divas. Kawhi is fantastic, but some of the complaints made by his teammates were justifiable. PG as well. Bev played here multiple years and almost NEVER complained. Lou is well liked around the NBA. The Rockets should want guys that play hard and Beverley is the epitome of that.
Not only that, but why on earth would Harden give half a flip about having Beverley or Lou Will back?
Patrick Beverley is not a playmaker. He can't do a crossover attack the basket and get a layup. What Patrick does is he literally sees a opening towards the basket drives, and sees a defender under rim and literally makes a circle to run back to the 3 Point line. That shows he doesn't have the ability to create his own shot. Or he can't create give it to James Harden when the shot clock is going down. So he isn't a playmaker. Playmaker is really All Stars Jrue Holiday, Deaaron Fox, John Wall, James Harden
95% of superstars in the league are divas. Even the elite players the media loves are treated differently and get special treatment. Teams know that, smart role players know that... it is the reality of basketball 2020. I personally like Beverley. He came from nothing and has had a good career and wealth for life. Having said that, he swerved from his lane and that is a no no. He will pay the price professionally.
Asking price is probably too high. I can't see teams departing with 1st round picks (even mildly protected ones) for either player, and I think that's what the Clippers want, especially for the future seasons they've given away unprotected picks as part of the PG trade. Unfortunately, both are older players, Williams maybe has 2 years left before he's staring at retirement and Bev likewise 1-2 seasons before his play declines and he's seeing more of a limited bench role. Their biggest value is to a playoff team that's looking for a spark player or a gap filled due to an unforeseen injury in which case they'll be more likely to meet the Clippers ask price, but aside from that I think they'll either have to take 50 cents on the dollar or stand pat.
Did you actually watch Bev play last year? The reputation totally went to his head. It's like he thinks he's a good defender just by existing without having to actually defend.
