If they go that way, and I'm not totally against it, it makes me much more interested in a defensive-minded HC like Saleh.
Schefter: Jed Hughes, assisting with search, recently came back with a strong recommendation for Seahawks OC Brian Schottenheimer. Recommended the organization him give major consideration for the head coaching role. Eric Bieniemy also thought to be a serious candidate.
I’m assuming Schneider and Carroll, both Jed Hughes recs, are feeding him the info. Schottenheimer would be a very underwhelming hire IMO.
He’s had mixed reviews as a play caller from what I’ve read. I’m hoping whoever the new HC is doesn’t make the mistake of trying to call plays so I’m not concerned about it. But same as Eric B, I’m concerned that their MVP QBs are highly inflating their stock although they deserve credit as well. I’m on the Saleh board all the way. The fact that he is still fielding a top 10 defense that has been absolutely decimated is damn impressive. Think he’s a Vrabel type coach whom players run through brick walls for.

i agree. While I think Schottenheimer is doing something there, this offense is more Russell's baby. Like for all these years nobody's poached Todd Haley off the steelers during the peak of the Bell/Brown era, that was Ben's offense not Haley.

How about Cal McNair name dropping Tony Dungy as a part of this Justice League of football minds only to have Dungy himself say "HUH WHAT?" on a talk show the following day!! LOLLLL Dungy was like "well he made a call, but I wouldnt say im part of a committee" as they all chuckled at Cals expense. Embarrassing doesn't even fully capture how it feels to watch an incompetent franchise do business.
Why is Hughes recommending HC candidates now? Shouldn't he 1st be recommending GM candidates, and then once hired let the new GM make the final HC decision, or at least have strong input to Cal on it? More cart before the horse imo.
Thought about this and thought maybe the GM vetting has been done and they moved onto HC recs since interviews can’t be held right now. If Cal is true to his word, the GM hire will come first. Also thought this could just be his agent dropping rumors to get his name in the mix. Or this could very well just be Cal having no idea what he is doing.
