Gathered from Real GM and Hot, Hot Hoops

I'm from Miami. Been a die hard heat fan since Grant long and Rony seikaly days. Now I've been thinking about this for a couple days since I heard the report and I'm all in. I love our team with the players we have, but this is James harden. I get the whole selfish thing and dosent play defense, but he is one of the best scorers all time and is literally unguardable. And if you watched the playoffs last year he was playing defense and playing defense well. The east is not easy this year the bucks got better, so did the nets so did the 76ers I dont even want to mention if you make it to the finals and see the lakers this year we have no chance. We are up against super teams we have to become one the same way championships are won now adays. I love Herro but let's be honest he will never be james harden. And you better belive when Pat Riley heard that report he has been on the phone with houston probably more than a few times. If you have a chance to get harden you go get harden

Harden is a Zero-sum player. Harden's terrific stats come at the expense of his teammates. Every basket he would get would likely be one less for another Heat player. There is no synergy or networking on the floor with Harden. This is the polar opposite to the type of players that Bam and Butler are, where teammates are incorporated and empowered. This would be the end of the super-fun style of basketball we saw last season.

Personally, I hope soon that Harden gets traded, kidnapped or his Momma tells him to STFU and play. If you’re a top 10 team in the league you’ve probably been linked to Harden one way or the other; clickbait city.

The Heat are one of the few "culture" teams in the NBA. By that I mean the culture of the organization is the overriding focus. Not unlike the Celtics (I hate them but give’em their props) and the Spurs under Pop. James Harden in no way, shape, manner or form fits the Heat culture, IMHO.

I think Harden/Butler/Bam fit together really well and its the type of move we’ve seen Riley make time and time again. As far as Harden not being a culture guy, Shaq really wasn’t either and that trade helped get the team a championship. Philly has the best package if Simmons is in the trade, but I’m not sure that they’re willing to move him. I think our package would be better than what the Nets or Bucks could do. My first thought though when I saw the Bucks were on his list was : holy cow if they hadn’t done that Jrue deal they would have been the favorites to land Harden with those same picks + Middleton.

I’m not sure. On one hand, you’re getting the best scorer in the NBA. But you’re giving up on a Giannis pursuit. I don’t buy the notion that Hardens not a team guy. He’s a willing passer. Averages over 6 a game for many years. Would Houston like a package of Duncan, Nunn , Precious, KZ and KO. That’d be a lot to give up but you keep Tyler. Can’t trade both Duncan and Tyler. My overriding senses say if heat don’t pull trigger, Giannis could very well be on his way. Harden butler and bam is a nice big three. And if the Heat want to ride the young core that’s fine by me! Love the style. If any organization can get the most out of Harden, it’s the Heat!!

Let’s be honest, Houston is not interested in a package that doesn’t include Herro. At best, Precious and KZ are the equivalent of picks. Nunn can fill the quality player requirement – and that’s a stretch. Herro is the only player outside of Bam and Butler that could possibly fill the all-star/potential all-star requirement. He’d be a good fit next to John Wall. If I’m Houston talks have to be centered around Herro. And probably include Duncan as well

Harden can't have much power on any team that hasn't Morey on board.

Duncan and Herro would have fun playing alongside John Wall for sure.

Heat fans are not quite as out to lunch as 76er fans at least.

    LOL

I hate that I’m being talked into Herro, Duncan, Precious and Olynyk

If anyone can turn Harden into physical specimen in shape player it is without a single shadow of doubt Pat Riley. There might not be a better motivator then this guy . A fit and fully focused Harden, with Bam and Jimmy is trouble for the east. Then you still have Dragic to

As nice as Herro is, a fully motivated and angry harden is mvp of the league type stuff. Riley will be laughing out loud.

I don't see Houston just giving Harden away.

Taking Herro would be the org saying we are ok with being a good team but don't have the burning desire to be a champion now. Even Miami fans know Herro will never be Harden. But at least he will be a borderline all-star at some point. I would at a minimum wait till the trade deadline to see how Wall holds up. If Wall can be your franchise guy I say go for Herro we would be a great Robin. But if Wall can't stay healthy till the break that means we still need to Push for getting back a franchise player.

    I'm not.

No way. I get that Tyler had a nice playoff run, but he doesn't look like a franchise player. Simmons at least has that potential.

The package has to include Andre and Kelly for money purposes.
    Then the Rookie Precious.
But you forget balls in Rockets court.
Duncan and Herro would both be included.

But the Rockets would be in a big Pickle.
Thats alot of players are going one direction.
So the picks plus that package would be a great deal for the Rockets. But the Rockets would have to ship some players away for sure.
OLYNK, Andre, Tucker and Gordon have to be moved . And Houston has to get picks or a player back. Not two players 1 no room after that

There's no way IMO that Morey allows Riley to swoop in and grab Harden. He has to be offering Simmons and maybe a pick to sweeten the deal. Facts: Riley does not play games. I think Morey is sweating bullets right now. The only obstacle I see is Tilman telling Morey to **** off. Time will tell

I mean that's everybodys hope. I'm hesitant about him as well because he has been in the league 4 years and he has yet to develop it. Makes me thinks he is lazy or has a stubborn mentality like Westbrook "I play my game".

I wish Denver would entertain a Jamal Murray. I feel he has some potential to become a very good player. Maybe something like Deron Williams before he went downhill.

I would love to see that but if i'm being honest, i don't know if Simmons will ever get a solid shot...i also don't think that's necessary as long as you surrond him with shooters as Simmons can create but also moves a lot without the ball, Simmons + four shooters + a good coach would give you a chance to have a great offense, i have no doubt about that.

Morey lets people swoop in and take his targets all the time. Morey was routinely poached by other GMs as Rockets GM

Wall can stay healthy, but even he is 100% back to his prime, he is no franchise player if the goal is to win a championship. No way we trade Harden for Herro if Simmons is available.

That's also a good point tbh, Miami getting Harden could be nasty for the Sixers...although, they could still get Giannis if they lose out on Harden lol.

The guy is 24 and he still hasn’t developed one so it’s unlikely he will get a reliable jump shot in the near future. Let’s see if Cassell can help him develop one now
