It depends on your definition of fan.

If your definition of fan is someone who is blindly optimistic and excited about a player who just came off the worst year of his career, has serious problems being an effective player at his current position, is a questionable shooter and poor playmaker yet makes up for a lot of it with his amazingly raw talent, athleticism and determination all while continuing to pour their hard-earned dollars into a team that has been neither exciting to watch or successful in recent history, than one could say Houston fans are horrible.

If your definition of a fan is someone who rides the highs and lows with the team but is realistic about the situation, then Houston fans are some of the best out there.

I guess if you're a player, you would hope your fans are like A...if you're a fan its a personal choice and most are somewhere inbetween. Houston fans strongly support winners, though, so if they just shut up and play good basketball everything will be okay.

I can understand why Mobley is fed up with Houston fans. For many of us, we feel that pain every time we read what many posters here have had to say all year long.

    I understand.

BUT ... You do not say that in public. I know that is what every player pretty much thinks all year long. And that is what they HAVE to think. If they don't they will have no confidence and completely suck. The problem is that he is a professional and he should know that what he says hurts ALL of the fans, not just the ones that constantly criticize. I'm willing to forgive Mobes for this, but only if he truly wants to be forgiven. Or else, I am ready for him to go.

It doesnt make him look good in my eyes...but I totally understand where he is coming from.
hell...sometimes I feel like saying that same thing to half of the people that post here....and half the fans that I meet in RL are twice as clueless as some around here....

If I was Cat, I would probably say the same thing about the lousy fans that will crucify a guy that finally plays the way everyone was beggin for all year....and then they b**** about him afterwards...

what it boils down to is...I dont care what he said...all I care about is if he is going to help us win.

Doesn't matter if indeed Houston fans suck compared to say, Sac or Dallas'... we still pay his salary.

Mobley is just not a smart man, you can tell as much when watching his interviews...he strains to sound halfway intelligent and ends up saying virtually nothing and sounding like an idiot.

So the Houston Rockets are a non-profit entity? I think it's a fairly direct trail from the turnstills to Les's bank account to Mobley's pay check.

    Mobley's comment is incredibly unprofessional.

My feelings aren't hurt. I like the fact that Mobley is taking this personal and could care less what I think. He cares about what HE THINKS!

    It's called owning your responsibility.

Was it the right verbage to get his point across? No.
    Was it necessarily wrong? No.

If everyone else on the team had the emotional attachment this series that Mobes has, we would win the series.

Thank you. There's some real tools in here. And when they yell "TRADE MOBLEY" who the heck are they talking to?

You lowly fans are just mad because we're down 2-0. Get off Mobley and say something intelligent. You sound like my ex-gf whining.

I could care less about what he thinks about the fans, but I think he should express his anger on Kobe instead of his teams fans. Kobe is the one that lit him up to the tune of 36 points, not us.

Mobley is right. Almost everyone in Houston is a fair weather fan. Yes I'm talking to most of you.

Im pissed, iv allways supported mobley, but he says i need to stop takin bball so seriusly? I'v never really bashed any1 on the Rox, well maybe on occation through frustration.. BUT Som1 needs to tell the "cat" the reason why i take this game so damn seriusly is to get away from all the problem i have in life (not that i really have any but still it make sense). **** i pay his ass, just like you all are too

I think it's unreal that Mobes made those statement. It's just not something you do. I think I can see him and Francis both be out of here tommorow. And yes it is us, the fans that pays his salaries. I am now officially in favor of trading Cat.

And just where did he make the distinction between fair weather and rabid? He's calling you out as well and you're too dumb to realize it.

    ... much ado about nothing

... someone just probably got him stoked up. We don't know what happened before he made those comments.

... or, maybe he read this BBS, to see how people were responding, and got pissed when he saw all the trade threads, or people thinking he should come off the bench ... :)

(good thing the search funtion isn't working)
