ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Bulls 12/11/2020 (Preseason)

It's a pre season game against the Bulls, we will need James here if you want to win a title.

 

Our frontcourt versatility and depth, I absolutely love the many combinations we can put on the floor depending on the matchups PJ Boogie, Wood, Bruno (some House).

i like boogie, he brings us toughness that we lacked. PJ is a different tough, coz he wont bang and not as intimidating size-wise, but boogie will bang and will make the opponents think twice in driving to the hoop. He will get us calls and can demand doubles on the block, or in secondary breaks. Although i didnt see him post this game, I can see us sneaking in some post plays whenever mismatches present themselves.

Bruno/wood will be a good combo that we will see from time to time too. length, athleticism and shot-blocking - very excited about that. Bruno will be good for 10 to 16 mins, the "two years from being two years away" has now come.

I like wall, still don't know how he can co-exist with beard (but that is a question for a lot of pg anyway). but i like how he looks energized being in a new team/environment. I dont expect an all-star year (tough west), but a significant bounce-back year is almost guaranteed. He will work best with EG on the floor, coz he's played with beal who is a similar-type of player.

I know EG is hit or miss, but when he is engaged in terms of getting touches and usage, he is a pleasure to watch. If this is how Silas is gonna play him, EG will surely merit a lot of calls before the trading deadline.

Green/BMac will be good for 4 threes between them every game.

 

If Wall and Cousins stay healthy and James is here you have about as good a chance as you’ve had during the Harden era. Going to need some strong defense and/or season ending injuries to LBJ and Kawhi too.

 

After the bubble, I was ready to put my Rockets’ fandom on the back burner. The way they went out was so disheartening.

MDA leaving was a given but hearing Morey leaving too, definitely didn’t help revive my interest.

But even with the Harden-drama, tonight’s game was legitimately fun.

There’s a new energy in the Rockets organization. You can see it in players that have been in the Rockets organization for years like EG; he looked refreshed. Even House, Green and Benny Mac looked better - played free-er.

There’s still a lot of ifs this season. Wall looked great as did Boogie. Hope we can say this mid season and at the end too.

Excited for more Nwaba; he was flying around the court. Tate had some good energy moments and if Bruno can fill in as nice bench big then this team has a lot of potential depth once Tucker, Wood and James gets back.

This team has the potential to be very creative and have several lineup options. Silas has looked the part as a good coach and able to foster this team.

My hope is that when/if James returns, he at least tries to get within the system. He can still iso and cook, but this offense can get him some easier looks. I don’t want to see two different offenses depending on if Harden is on the court (Harden-offense vs a Silas-offense).

Win or lose, James or no, this team will at least be exciting to watch. Couldn’t say that last year if Harden was out or on the bench; it was tough watching Russ or Gordon trying to fill in Harden’s role.

 

nil NBA players look weak, I suggest to sign.some players with NBA experience instead like nick young, I Thomas and P Gasol.

Mason had as many points as Clemons in a 3rd as many minutes.

Fewer TO too.

 

This was my biggest gripe with D'Antoni, especially when House got himself booted out of the bubble.

 

3ball, fearless shooter, strong like bull and 40" max vert.

But 5'8 is still 5'8.

 

The bulls announcers were pretty good. However their team will be getting the number 1 pick in next years draft. They are atrocious. An G league team has more talent.

Cousins looks fit. This is probaly the fittest he has ever been thus far as a player. Great game

Bruno what a great game. I’ve always said he has the physical tools it’s a matter of putting it together.


Wall still little rusty but showed glimpses.His first step and pop looked good.

David Nawaba very impressive defender. Really physical with good fundamentals. Definitely a keeper.

Gerald Green is a streaky athletic freak even at 34. We missed him last season.

Gordons trade value just went up.

Overall good win but the Bulls are ******* awful.

 

I think Silas would have unlocked Russ too. Russ would have thrived in this pnr 5 out system. especially with Boogie and Wood shooting.. MDA was dumb enough to make Russ a 1v1 player.

 

We will not win a title with James playing the way he always has, we play as a team and he fits in with this group we have a chance.

Rockets tried to acquire Wood.

Stone was still following Morey/MDA template.

Enjoy Silas but let's not twist things.

 

What are you even talking about though? You think James is still not gonna have a higher usage rate here, he will. How many times did you see Wall cut????

 

No Russ would not have thrived. Wall is actually is smart basketball player a lot like Harden.

 

I'm excited for this team. Even without Harden. The way Harden plays is toxic and D'Antoni encouraged it.
