[Russillo] 76ers waiting on Rockets for Simmons / Harden deal; also PJ Tucker wants out

The next thing you know Batman Jones is going to move the catastrophic theater to Philly

 

It’s been 4 years since he’s been in the league and he still can’t shoot outside 10 feet. He will never develop a solid jump shot.

 

Simmons, as much of a poor shooter he is, will be an asset whose value doesn't diminish immediately because he wants to be traded. Yes, Simmons probably won't lead to a championship, and is much more inferior to Harden, but Simmons value is more stable and later on would amount to more if the Rockets want to trade him away. Hardens value will not get higher later on, bc his contract is up sooner and will likely bolt on any team he doesn't like.

If Simmons is available then it’s over. Done deal. Trade harden, peel off the band aid and move on. It’s a no brainer, he’s flawed but he’s an all nba player under 25 under contract for several years.

either Philly hasn’t offered that or Houston isn’t taking deals because IF that deal is there and Tillman or stone or whoever don’t take it and try to ride it out, they are out of their minds. U risk injury, risk Philly starting out hot and meshing finally, just several things.

If Harden leaves for someone like Simmons, I'm actually looking forward to playing a more team passing game.
I do think it will improve the likes of House, BenMc and Gordon.

Absolutely. He is still an elite versatile defender . In Philly he will thrive with big Joel’s size. He won’t be needed to guard the bigger centres anymore. Stick with guys his size

 

u don’t know that. If Philly has an unbelievable year and go on a deep run finally and things click and they make the finals or the ECF game 7 and mesh and harden is on the last year of his contract he’s a rental and he’ll kill deals on site.

if Simmons is available right now, u take that deal right now. Or Simmons tears acl or has back issues etc

 

76ers created an 8.1 mill TPE in the Horford deal. PJ’s salary fits into that perfectly which could allow for a major salary savings.

I am still not sold on Simmons being a franchise player. But part of me wants to see what happens when Harden and Morey team up again. What kind of team will Morey build with Harden this time around.
