I'm going to continually contribute to this, but feel free to add. My current favorites are FM Kitchen Relish Whataburger Hatch Chile on Texas Toast Hubcap Bubba's Buffalo burger But for those staying at home, I'm also going to post videos of great burgers to make on your own
Have had the same thought, but then I think I just miss my metabolism and lack of good tastes from the early 1990's.
i had a chili cheese burger at barnabys last year and i still think about it all the time. p terrys does a good fast food burger, but i dont know that theyre in houston yet. my go-to there is a double with cheese, hold the spread and add mustard, bacon and jalapenos.
Fast food my local Whataburger is usually 10+ cars deep. I started going to DQ out of convenience. They have really stepped their game up.
I -love- hamburgers. Pop Top in Friendswood has the best local burgers I've had in a long time. Hamburger assembly is key: Grill-Toasted Top Bun Condiment: Mayo Diced onions (Optional: Avocado) Lettuce Pickled jalapenos (Optional: Bacon) (Optional: Cheddar cheese) Meat Condiment: Ketchup Grill-Toasted Bottom Bun Slice in half
It must of been 5-10 years ago when Wendy`s changed the type of pickles and onions they use and ever since I am not a big fan. Love the Frosty though. Burger King is so hit and miss.......my go to is still Whataburger, I`m not really one to go buy a $15.00 burger, but that's just me
A few others that I like: Christian’s Tailgate (though not as good as the original Christian’s totem or perhaps I am just nostalgic) Pappas Burger Liberty Kitchen has a good burger though it is crazy messy Goode Co Taqueria has a good mesquite flavored burger as well
I am super simple when it comes to burgers. All the gourmet and tricked out stuff you see at Hopdoddy and Hubcap and the like just ain't my thing. I dont need cheetos, or arugula or peanut butter and any weird stuff. My list: Champburger Whataburger Patty Melt Five Guys Jax Miller's Southwells Burger Joint Also the occasional BK Whopper with mustard instead of mayo. When McDonalds carries the Texas Homestyle on their menu I'll get that too. I'll also second the earlier post that DQ has stepped their burger game up big time. A double cheeseburger with just cheese (Jim Cornette style) from DQ hits really good.
specifically weird preferences on this: Patties as thin as can be pressed without crumbling, with short burn on a super hot grill for maximum charred surface area to interior volume ratio. Caramelized onions; single slice of cheese of the pasteurized/prepared/food product variety, and bacon only if thin & crispy (good cheese and bacon can dominate). Buns fresh and soft but dense to hold up. If a traditional texas style, with lettuce tomato onion mustard, I can handle a more typical thicker patty without the burn. No cheese or bacon. light bun, no butter, no toasting etc. btw Whataburger used to make a good A1 thick and hearty, before they started fancying themselves a sauce manufacturer (in the greater pursuit of grocery food distribution), dropping all such partnerships, and forcing their own subpar sauces on everything, including ruining the A1 thick and hearty forever. DQ since picked up A1, but couldn't ever do anything even close with it.
The Whataburger Patty Melt is the truth. Used to eat at the original 5 Guys in Arlington, VA back in the day before they exploded. Not that it's bad now, but it was even better back then. AND, it was cheap. Perennially heading up The Washingtonian's "Cheap Eats" list.
Big whataburger and Millers Cafe fan. But since I moved to the Keto diet I just buy the Costco frozen patties and cook them on the stove and load them up with cheese, jalapenos and bacon. It feels weird ordering a burger without a bun so I cook my own when I crave a hamburger.
Have you been to a Wendys lately? Daves single or double is still delicious and probably my favorite fast food burger. I miss their garlic bread though.
