That's the fact the Trump defenders always choose to ignore. Such hypocrites.

I don't agree 100%, but I GET IT! Believe me I get it. I agree 91%. And places like Longview, Beaumont, don't get me started.

Not if the Texas state legislators have something to say (gerrymandering).

Maybe there will come a point in time where all Goo tactics is overwhelmed by shear population size overwhelming their base.

Louisiana AG throws support behind Texas election lawsuit
By Johnathan Manning | December 8, 2020 at 5:44 PM CST - Updated December 8 at 8:04 PM

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry (R) on Tuesday said he supported the election complaint Texas has brought before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) filed the lawsuit, saying election results in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Michigan are unlawful. Read the complaint HERE. The Supreme Court has called for a response to the complaint by Thursday afternoon.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court without comment rejected a request by U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pennsylvania) to reverse Pennsylvania’s certification of President-elect Joe Biden.

Landry is urging the Supreme Court to take up election cases.

    Here is his full statement:

Millions of Louisiana citizens, and tens of millions of our fellow citizens in the country, have deep concerns regarding the conduct of the 2020 federal elections. Deeply rooted in these concerns is the fact that some states appear to have conducted their elections with a disregard to the U.S. Constitution.

Furthermore, many Louisianans have become more frustrated as some in media and the political class try to sidestep legitimate issues for the sake of expediency.

Weeks ago, on behalf of the citizens of Louisiana, my office joined many other states in filing a legal brief with the United States Supreme Court urging the Justices to look into the conduct of the election in Pennsylvania where their state court ignored the U.S. Constitution in regard to the conduct of the election.

The U.S. Constitution in Article 1, Section 4, states plainly: “The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature …” The power for the conduct of federal elections is held by the State Legislatures in each state. In states like Pennsylvania, the judicial branch attempted to seize control of these duties and obligations and to set their own rules. These actions appear to be unconstitutional.

If it is unconstitutional for Pennsylvania to take this action, it is similarly unconstitutional for other states to have done the same.

Only the U.S. Supreme Court can ultimately decide cases of real controversy among the states under our Constitution.

That is why the Justices should hear and decide the case which we have joined representing the citizens of Louisiana.

Furthermore, the U.S. Supreme Court should consider the most recent Texas motion, which contains some of the same arguments.

Louisiana citizens are damaged if elections in other states were conducted outside the confines of the Constitution while we obeyed the rules.

Republicans used to stand for states' rights.
Now they love big-government military/taxation and federal intervention.

I don't think Paxton is under indictment for federal crimes. There was originally an SEC case against him but the current indictment is a state criminal case.

This whole thing is just typical Ken Paxton stuff. He just uses taxpayer money to file stupid lawsuits that will generate headlines. He's been doing as long as he's been the AG. He was party to almost every court challenge to an Obama administration regulation or executive order. Any time he finds an angle to file some controversial lawsuit, he'll do it. It's not like it costs him anything. His whole legal team is taxpayer funded so in his mind, why wouldn't he keep filing lawsuits if it keeps generating publicity.

The state house will still be somewhat difficult to gerrymander. The state constitution doesn't allow the legislature to draw districts that cross county lines so as long as urban and suburban counties continue to shift, the gerrymander will eventually break. This rule only applies to the State House so there's no chance that Democrats will ever win the State Senate and they'll draw the new US Congressional Districts to minimize the impact of the suburbs. Instead of using suburbs to crack urban areas, they'll dilute suburbs with rural areas and then pack urban areas together.

But Dems will still have a path in the state house eventually. The restriction on drawing districts across county lines will eventually open some paths up for Democrats.

Some of my family members are actually cheering about this lawsuit, they think that this is their big moment for Trump that they've been waiting for. They think they can just overturn the election just because they have more conservative seats in the Supreme Court and they feel that some of the judges owe Trump a favor. Like what the hell? Even if you weren't political, does that even sound anywhere near what should be happening in a country like the United States? God, someone just end this ridiculousness already.

Very very irresponsible. Jeff Landry cites the US Constitution yet misses that this lawsuit is violating the Constitution by trying to have individual states interfere in how other states conduct their elections. Also again using the argument that it is up to State Legislatures to determine how elections are run then Gov. Abbot overstepped by limiting drop off boxes to only one per county.

Having states question other state in this manner is exactly the type of thing that drives to Civil War.
