You sell them? Come again??? I'm looking to buy a 17" iMac in the next month here. Any good deals to be offered??? You would be my hero!
I just can't understand why these makers of big laptops don't take the opportunity to extend the keyboard out to the edges of the body. Instead, they just drop in one of the smaller keyboards from their smaller models. What a missed opportunity to make something truly worthwhile.
I'm looking for a 17" iMac as well for my Digi/Recording set-up. Luckily, I'm a college student so they give us discounts. Naturally, they give us discounts on iPod's as well. I love debt!
wait, how much of a discount do you get on iPods?...are you talking about the $30 educational discount?
Good point. My guess would be costs... trying to have a competitive price point. I would want a larger keyboard on one of those puppies as well.
Seems like the main reason for the smaller keyboard is weight. Reviewers can be very critical of the portability of a laptop. MacWorld actually took one star away from one of the iBooks because it was 8 ounces heavier than the previous model. Since these are portable, my guess is that they are putting a heavy emphasis on the size and weight.
I would think the keyboard sizes are for interchangable parts -- one keyboard can cover the whole line of laptops.
Yeah. Plus, I'm saving around $300 on the iMac ($100 discount up front and a lot of savings on the increased memory).
