no kidding. it's amazing the irrational hatred harden generates (from GM's even!) for a guy who basically never says anything or makes waves with anybody (until now). to add to your examples, kawhi leonard straight up sat out an entire season and kept gettin' them checks. and not vet min checks. just didn't play a whole year to be ready for his max contract. not a peep. harden misses a day of camp and the world ends.

what's the alternative? force the player to play without them giving a damn? how's that going to go over with the team? that's why the players usually win these stand-offs. the players have power because they're the ones who dribble and throw the ball through the hoop.

Good question. Not sure how you'd do it with the divas and coddled players in the NBA.

This thing hasn't been allowed to happen in Australian sport.

A player forced themselves out of a contract last season, and another is doing it this offseason and it is causing an absolute stink because contracts have been valued as something important over here.

Because he's racist. If you can't see that I can't help you.
All the messages he delivers after any social unrest is just ridiculous. How he supports the proud boys and doesn't see an issue.

How come there wasn’t all this energy with AD? Bron was outright colluding with him? They didn’t feel like speaking up then?

At the very least James Harden needs to be a man and speak his mind and stop playing these passive aggressive social media games.

Just say you want out - not through your mommy or your homeboys. Be a man. Face the city and the fans.

He just wants to slink away like a thief in the night? Not the way to do it.

I hope Im wrong and what im feeling today is just the culmination of all the drama, but James could easily put an end to all the BS if he would just make a statement and get this thing over with - and yet he does not. I'd like to think he shows up to camp and says "I told you guys I'd be here soon" and then its over with VS what everyone is expecting with a drawn out divorce.

Rockets just giving him space to process and figure it out - good for them for not escalating the issue and LOOKING for league intervention.

There must be stuff behind the scenes. Both Westbrook and Harden have acted like it's a personal issue with the team, not just wins and losses. WB and Harden continued to act like buds throughout the entire season and after, yet WB wanted out right away. Supporting Trump is probably part of it, but the "Knicks of the South" comment suggests it's way beyond that.

How about the monopolist owners that we spend our personal money and hopes on (as well as our tax money to buy them an arena) intervene to force Fertita to sell the team.

not quite half the country, far fewer than necessary electors so comparing an NBA contract to political action is almost like saying, ‘Republicans buy shoes, too.’

You've misunderstood the question. It wasn't asked why someone finds Trump offensive, but why someone is offended by another person supporting Trump. It's one thing to be offended directly but quite another to be offended by someone else not being offended.

Also, if you are offended by Trump merely because of racism then you aren't really paying attention. Trump's racism is just a small part of a far larger problem and calling Trump a racist, though fair, really misses the point. The fact is, though, that the ultra-wealthy are often not repulsed by how Trump thinks but instead admire it because they are the same kind of people. That applies to owners of pro sports teams, so taking offense to YOUR owner approving of Trump while other owners around the league do as well is naive.

But hey, if Harden thinks that playing for a franchise owned by a greedy casino tycoon is a bridge too far, he can demand a trade to a team that until a year ago was owned and controlled by a Russian oligarch and is now owned and controlled by the Chinese founder of Alibaba. No doubt those guys share Harden's world view, right?

Harden was breaking protocol and partying while not even wearing a mask and also posting videos of it. I do not see Harden as a person that cares for community or social wellbeing like Lebron. Actions speaks louder than words.

What protocol is he breaking? Our president never even once told everyone they have to wear masks. Everything always been optional. Those clubs are closed to most people. I'm sure they rented out the entire thing. People with money can find a way to make it safe. While I don't agree with what he's doing, I am not telling people how to live their life. Especially if he's about to get locked down for 7 months during an NBA season.
