?

IF this is a 'Screw u, i aint playing for you...' scenario... how to proceed?

  1. Make a deal and get whatever you can to get this ingrate out the door!

  2. Screw him - Let him sit! Fine him, withhold pay, do whatever you can if he wont honor his contract!

  3. We can still fix this! Kiss his butt and coddle him some more so maybe he will honor his contract.

Apparently if he refuses to play his contract gets pushed back. So if he is like I wont play this year he will still have 2 years left on his contract so he has to show up no matter what.

Kareem forced his way out of Milwaukee (said it wasn’t big enough for him) to LA, Wilt forced his way out of Philly (similar to the reasons Harden is rumored) to LA, Dwight forced his way out of Orlando to LA, Jason Kidd forced a trade to Dallas, Stephon Marbury forced Minny to trade him to New Jersey, Chris Paul forced a trade out of New Orleans and then forced the Clips to trade him to Houston, Chris Webber forced his way out of Golden State for Washington, Carmelo from Denver to the Knicks, Vince Carter from Toronto to New Jersey, Latrell Sprewell from Golden State to New York (choked his coach), Alonzo Mourning from Charlotte to Miami, Dennis Rodman from the Spurs to the Bulls, Shaq feuded with Kobe and ended up in Miami, Ray Allen from Milwaukee to Seattle...

The list goes on and on. Folks acting like this is a new development in the league...haven’t been watching the NBA for years. Stars have forced their way off teams for a long time if they haven’t liked their situation and teams have mostly acquiesced to them.

Don’ know how you change it...maybe a European style development system where the NBA starts allowing teams to take over the AAU circuit, develop players, sign them to “minor” contracts when they are 16 to fill U18 squads, move them to G-League at 18, can be called up at 19 to NBA squad. NBA draft is only for Euro or college players (although this system will likely severely dampen what prospects come out of college). Might help keep stars loyal to their team that develops them, but there will still be those that push to go elsewhere...same happens in Europe in both Soccer and Basketball.

To be fair, the only ones who can do something like this is a champion caliber player. The new management should be hard and firm. The old guys are gone and as well as the coaching staff. We have to make a new culture with stone and silas. Im saying harden is and still a top 5 player in the league but after 8 years without making the finals, the organization doesnt fall right through whatever u say or want. Morey and dantoni gave in to hardens ways and now its time to change that, or if were lucky, james needs to change his perspective that iso ball or hanging with his friends amidst corona will give him a ring

Somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd option is what we should shoot for.

He's in town - great... but if he still wants out - sit him until you get a decent deal... imo...
