JVG hasnt taken steve out of his game, well maybe he did but its not his fault. All JVG wanted from steve was more controlled basketball, not the dribble fest iso ball while the rest of your team stands still game. Steve still has all his chances to drive to the hoop, but doesnt get as many iso plays anymore as they are ineffective against the zone. I always knew steves FG% would drop due to the zone, 45% to 43% and now to 40%(01-02 season excluded due to migranes). Steve needs to work on his jumpers and decision making. If steve had a good midrange game he would definintely be a dangerous pg and scorer.

To sum it up all tmac has to do is play good defense and he will fit right in. Latrell fit in NY and he is one of the most dangerous open court players.

From what I observe from watching Tmac is that he isnt a open court player but a good midrange shooter and has the ability to score in the paint well like Kobe, which makes him a good scorer.

    Players that I want. REALISTICALLY

    - A 2 guard with passing skills: Brent Barry, possibly Jamal Crawford

    - A PF with scoring ability, rebounding and decent defense: Donyell Marshall, Shareef Abdur-Rahim

    - A 3 man, shifting Jim Jackson to 2 w/ Cat as 6th man: Rashard Lewis, Hedo Turkoglu, Matt Harpring, Michael Sweetney

Don't mess with the core of the team: Franchise and the Dynasty

none of those are realistic.... Rockets don't have the cap room and nobody wants Franchise. Try Rafer Alston, a true pg, NY playground legend who is playing extremely well for the Heat. I have watched him play 20-30 games last two years, he's like a younger version of MarkJ with a decent 3pt. He's 6-3, great handles and can defend. Rafer is awesome on fast break and SF can be the finisher. He could be had for 1.5-2 million dollar range.

Problem is, Brand and Allen are the type of players that get abused on defense. Brand's jump shooting won't really help causes as far as freeing the lane either. Steve's been solid in the postseason, I don't see why some of you can't just get off of the man, he's constantly progressing.

Agreed. Although I'd love to have any of Brand, Brent Barry or Rashard Lewis and want to see Francis & Yao together for at least another year. Keep them together.

Yao needs to play with a bit of passion, urgency and heart. At the moment, I don't see too much of it. GAME 3 & 4 in Houston, we're gonna come out firing.

I got it! We send Francis to Philly, Philly sends Iverson to Toronto; Toronto sends Carter to Orlando; and Orlando sends McGrady to Houston. Now all that is left is to work out the spare change. Ta da!

I've said it all along that to get MvGrady, you have to take hill. I would do it along with lue and Hunter in return they can have Francis,Mobley,Cato,TE,and Pike.

If Les was such a cheap skate we could always buy out Hill's contract.

You cant just buy out a contract and have it come off the salary cap.

    Tracy McGrady

Would immediately fill the void of a go-to scorer to take the pressure off of Yao when one of the inevitable dry spells comes. If he came, Mobley would have to be dealt for a PG, which would definitely be worth it. Still, when one of the top 10 players in the league is available, you have to make the deal if possible. Steve is not top 10, TMac is a twotime scoring champion. Make the deal CD.

    Vince Carter

Too much trouble. Whines, gets hurt, whines some more, and his gentle nature would offend the hell out of JVG. No way, rather keep our own headache thank you.

    Allen Iverson

Ditto for him. He would get destroyed among the oaks of the West, seems to be already in physical decline. Fun to watch, but Yao would become useless on offense.

    Elton Brand

The guy who probably makes the most sense. Although not as good as McGrady, his impact on Yao would be tremendous. Covers all of Yao's faults (toughness, agressiveness, physical style) while not replicating his strengths (shooting, touch, offensive awareness). They could be dominant inside, and in the West, that is the most important playoff strength. Just watch as Shaq, Tim and KG go to war while the Kings, Mavs and other disappear. I'd go into that war with EBrand and Yao any day.

    SAR

Used to love this guy, but he has become an afterthought. This guy backed up Zach Randolph. Not worth Francis, and with his contract, that's the only possible deal.

    Ray Allen

Sane, I feel you man. This guy is the prototype SG to put around Yao. Honestly, he, BBarry and Rashard are the type of tall, athletic shooters Yao needs around him to flourish. Think Sactown with CWebb/Vlade/BMiller distributing from the post to Peja/Bibby/Christie/BJackson as they cut in and out of screens around them. RayRay could do that perfectly with Yao.

    Shawn Marion

Would be wonderful, but not as a replacement for Steve as the second option after Yao. Not the type to assume that type of scoring pressure. A great fit at SF, but not unless he's the third star.

    Jerry Stackhouse
    Jason Terry
    Tyson Chandler
    Jason Richardson
    Big Z

These guys all carry significant baggage and wouldn't be a significant upgrade over Francis or Mobley.

I guess it will be three more years.

Are you guys lost of mind? Francis/Caot/Mobnley for T-MAc/Hill??????? In case you have not noticed, (1) we gave up a No.1 to Utah for getting rid of Rice's one-year contract (2) KNicks gave up peanuts to get both Marbury AND Penny (who at least can contribute 20 mins on court).

If we ever want to absorb Hill's contract, we do not have to give up Francis/Mobley and we should not. The combined value of Hill/T-Mac is not bette than Marbury/Penny and there is no way it is worth either SF orMobely, let alone the combination of Cato/SF/Cat.

I would go after one of these two as well. Jason Richardson is pretty good. Besides his obvious talent, he works hard and has a winning attitude (despite being on a losing team right now).

But are you sure he's a free agent this summer?

Yao has openly said that he does not want SF3 traded. His reasoning:

    1) we won't get equal or better value back;
    2) there is no guarantee that star will adapt his game to fit in with Yao's;
    3) SF3 is down to earth and not cocky. Rare merits among all stars.

Theres no way we can land McGrady. Pipe dream plain and simple. Point being that there are reports that he's interested in playing for the suns. Suns might give up Marion to get McGrady. I dont think we can compete with what other teams are offering for McGrady.
