If Stone and Tilly are not in Vegas RIGHT NOW trying to convince Harden that they are doing EVERYTHING to bring him a ring.

Then they really suck at their job.

Understood but remember we were all Rox fans BEFORE Harden and will continue to be fans after. I will always rep HOUSTON ROCKETS no matter how good or bad we are. I NEVER rep a player.

This is ****ing bullshit tho.....u guys literally made moves for him. Treated him great and he’s leveraging (trying) you guys like you haven’t done everything to put a ring on his hand.

Take some accountability dude. U wanna trade ok? gimme a list of 5-6 teams and let’s work together. Show up to camp, put on a fake smile and let’s get it done and both get something in return.

just hate to see this **** and it’s not a player empowerment thing- players should be empowered and be able to move but there needs to be some code involved.

Kawhi - NBA Champion and Finals MVP
    AD - LeBron wanted him

That, friends, is cache... a get-out-of-jail-free card in league circles. Ultimately, team success is the anchor; one achieved it directly, one received it transitively from another with Championship cache.

Right now, Harden can claim no cache except when it comes to extreme gift-giving and most attempts to catch COVID-19.

Yeah, I stay with the team too, I definitely look back on franchise players when they played for the Rockets (brings back good memories) but I don't follow the players to a new team. Or bandwagon, I'm too used to Houston sports misery, haha

Yeah, I really think there should be some accountability here... I mean at least where I've worked.... You might build enough rapport/tenure to get some leniency - but this, this is different.

If I was expected to be somewhere for my job and just decided I wanted to party in Vegas, when I got back - unless I owned the company - I don't think they're going to say "sure, come on back!!!" - no it'll be "your stuff is in a box, come get it. oh and drop your laptop off"

And if you do that, besides the fact you have to pay his guaranteed contract, he is happy as a lark, getting to pick his team out of 29 without having to be traded. Getting "fired" would be a win for him.

Superstars don't operate in the same mode as everyone else. It's that way when you are literally in the top 99.999999% of the population at what you do.

It's very unfortunate, but likely is James will win this one. I'm hoping the Rockets will get out as much as they can out of it before he craters his trade value. Also unfortunately, he probably wants to crater it so the next team has more assets around him to win a ring.

    Not buying it.

Morey would not quit because a player wanted out, even a great player like Harden.

That's like a Manager quitting because his best employee decided to move on to better things.

Executives quit because of toxic environments or money, that is an age old truth.

couldn’t the 2 not be mutually exclusive tho? A) Morey and Tillman’s relationship is toxic and or trending that way b) knowing that a year from now a hard decision on harden was coming and c) perhaps being painfully realistic about the teams chances with the lakers in the west.

to me this seems like Morey didn’t like his relationship with Tillman, didn’t like being forced into a trade and knew there was a potentially ugly situation coming up with James and his contract. To me it looks like a business decision to get out a year early than a year late and then he lucked into a great situation with Philly.

just my outsiders nba perspective- u guys know as much as anyone but that’s my opinion

    This.

Harden has been our best player in decades, and while he was not able to lead this team to a championship, he made the Rockets relevant and many times title contenders.

Still, the team comes first in spite of ownership. I think we got enough signals from Harden and his momma that he doesn't want to be here. Oblige him, work a multiple team trade and let's go.

Remember when people were saying I was being “dramatic” and a pessimist yesterday because there was clear indication that Harden was not on board?

But that narrative is very different from what McMahon and Pelton are pushing, that Morey quit BECAUSE of Harden wanting out.

One is "A" factor while the other is "THE" factor.

yea, well I think it’s more to do with his relationship with Tillman and the harden thing being in the backdrop.

RUMOR: James Harden not reporting to training camp has other teams wanting NBA to step in

According to ESPN’s Zach Lowe (h/t Real GM), people who work for the other 29 teams in the NBA want the league to step in and handle the Harden situation.

“I have already heard from, I don’t know, three, four people out of the blue today who don’t work for the Rockets but work for the other 29 teams saying, ‘the league has to step in and do something about this. This is not okay.’
