I have to give Russell Westbrook the credit of being a rational human being.

Therefore, I believe this quote is somewhat out of context. Maybe it should read more like he felt he was made the only scapegoat among many reasons why they lost or that he was too harshly criticized for his performance given some circumstance.

Like with CP3, I will be more comfortable going back to rooting against Westbrook. And Austin Rivers.

Who would ever thought the a guy who has been god awful in the playoffs for the past 3 years would be bad this post season as well!

Certainly not the fine folks at the Fertita mensa club, thats for sure!

Westbrook must think those turnovers and missed shots didn't contribute to the Lakers beating us

    Theres a scapegoat every year...
    Westbrook
    CP3
    Ariza
    D12
    etc..

it speaks to the core problem of this organization - no unity and no honest accountability!
The concept of 'win as team' or 'lose as a team' is not a part of this organizations culture...

not saying there should not be accountability - quite the contrary... but the org doesnt look at all the issues and ways to improve - they just signify someone as the 'weak link' and heap all the blame and frustration there...

    ...imo....

    ...smh

i'm reminded of this cartoon by Dave Berg in MAD magazine years ago...

    Bottom of the 9th...
First kid is up to bat - and strikes out...
2nd kid is up to bat - and strikes out...
3rd kid is up - and also strikes out - ending the game...

The first 2 kids yell at the 3rd kid "You lost the game for us!"

When you get paid $40+ million expect that because there’s a reason you get paid the like a superstar. When there’s a huge gap between expectation and reality especially in a playoff series, when superstars are magnified, there’s going to be a lot of negative criticism. If Harden performed like Russ played in the playoffs then he would be getting the bulk of the criticism. A bit hypocritical to say the organization has a culture of unaccountability and you don’t even own up to your underwhelming performance.

Westbrook played like crap... but lets be honest... it took the Lakers 1 game to figure out that weak sauce small ball crap and then proceed to fully abuse us... If Westy had played better we may have won another game or 2 - but we were gonna get smoked regardless...

On the contrary, the system was not exposed in the playoffs. And "small ball" is a media creation (same with micro ball), D'Antoni preferred to call it SKILL ball and said so often.

Rockets actually held the Lakers below their playoff average.

Rockets were small but they played the Lakers the toughest. If anything the system worked but it did not have the right personnel.

And Morey understood this as he worked his ass of to try and acquire a stretch 5 or a more switchable 5 at trade deadline.

Even if Morey stayed, Wood or a like player (Morey tried his very best to trade for Wood) would have been signed this season.

Silas is going to continue the 5 Out offense so the system was not at fault, it needed better personnel and some tweaks.

Russ is next up in line for players that everyone suddenly loves and sympathizes with once they leave the Rockets. We'll get blamed for "ruining his career" and we'll get a new story on espn about how we did him dirty every time we play the Wizards for the next three years.
