In last night's game, was it just me or did Kobe's foot clearly touch the ground before he shot the ball on that drive to the basket where he went up and released the ball on the way down with his back to the basket? He was fouled on the play and hit the free throw to complete the 3 point play. Anyone remember this shot? The commentators couldn't stop gushing over Kobe, but all I could think was "Hey, his foot touched the ground before he released!"
My thoughts exactly. His foot clearly hit the ground but since it was Kobe bryant the refs gave him the shot. Another Kobe call was the foul Cat gave him at the end of the third quarter, now that was a clear foul but they gave him three free throws when the replayed showed cat fouled him way before he even attempted that shot.
Hey, great shot tho'. I'd give to him if I were the ref. And on the Mobley foul that was an early foul, no doubt, but if Mobes is dumb enough to foul him I can't complain about 3 shots. It was just a boneheaded play.
Its not just you, but it seems to happen a lot in the NBA. I mean it benefits the league to allow those spectacular plays, and its hard for the referee to see when the foot hits the ground when he is looking at the body contact. Ive seen steve make his certain shots a number of times this season after getting fouled and his foot hitting the ground.
I understood that but three free throws? He was not in the act of shooting until way after Mobley committed the foul.
I'm prob wrong..but....I thought that any non shooting penalty is only 2 shots. That's why people foul when a three could tie sometimes. Am I wrong? I'ts not like it really decided the game.
I thought so. And yeah, I guess it happens all the time. I was just wondering if anyone else saw it because it seemed so obvious. As for the Mobley foul, it should have been only 2 shots, but still, what a horrible mental error on Mobley's part. Simply ridiculous - and he's one of the only guys on the team with playoff experience!
I tivoed it and it does appear he was up and down and should have been a turn...but then again, Kobe got away with a major hack on Ming in the 4th too.... It seemed everytime Kobe went in it was a foul.... and yes, the tivo showed the look of absolute disdain for Cuttino.... This team will be changed unless there is a miraculous turnaround...there is no doubt...you just listen to league sources, league commentators and watch JVG looks of disgust...I bet you we all have the exact same look... The "How a 4 and 5 yr vet player can make these stupid players and turn the ball like that is beyond my realm of understanding" look
Remember, this is Kobe "Bare" Bryant -- heir to Michael Jordan and unquestioned savior of the NBA -- we are talking about here.
