Man it's more fun watching offensive basketball than the scrum in LA.

I disagree. To me, this game was more boring than our game. I just can't respect teams that don't even try to play defense.

Wrong, they're both equally as boring.

The only part that's good is the look on Mark Cuban's face in the 4th quarter.

I agree with KeepKenny. In one case you have two teams trying to score as much as possible without trying to stop the other team from scoring. In the other case you have two teams trying to score as much as possible but cannot due to the other team playing D.

Hey the Kings picked up the D in the 4th and that was the difference in the game. I still prefer running, passing and shooting to fumblin, shovin and clankin. Maybe because I grew up in the Laker "Showtime" years but I think basketball should be about speed skills and scoring .

They play defense, but they have so many good offensive players all over the court that it makes it very hard to shut either of them down.

I love watching good offensive basketball....

As long as Dallas never gets a ring in the NBA who cares about the Cubanites.

May they be swept out with the trash.

As long as we're not in it too!

Ideally, you get players who can shoot the lights out at one end and play lock down defense at the other end. Those players are hard to come by.

Now if you had to choose to watch players who are good defenders with limited offensive skills or players who has superior passing and shooting skills but not very good at defense? I'd choose the latter.

I agree that making no effort on defense is bad basketball and it's not good to watch. But I've never liked overly physical basketball, which a lot of people equate with good defense. If I wanted to watch muscular men shoving, pushing and hitting each other, I'd go watch wrestling or boxing.

The Kings and Mavericks have vastly different offensive approaches IMO. I like to watch the Kings in the half-court because they share the ball and are good passers. The Kings can't spell "defense" but they can probably get the first few letters correct.

The Mavs on the other hand are a bunch of gunners who take shots in early transition O and would have to guess which letter "defense" starts with. When early transtion O is not there (or when they are D'd up well in transition), they are extremely fortunate in having Nash running the show.

Those that are envious of 'allas should ponder the fact that the Mavs are 0-25 this season in games when they are behind by 8 or more points in Q4. IOW, you're not making any comeback without knowing how to play D.

I want the Mavs to be swept. Not that I'm a Kings fan per se. But if the Mavs could get swept and Nash might start looking around, saying, You know, San Antonio/Charlotte/Phoenix/Denver et al might not be bad places to play.....

And then maybe Dallas can become an also-ran. The Western Conference is just stacked too deep.

Why would Nash go to Phoenix or Denver? He would be in the same division, accepting less money, and put on a team that is even further from winning the division.

What makes you think Cuban doesn't have a basketball mind? He probably knows more about basketball and what is happening in the NBA than anyone on this board.

Cuban is a moron when it comes to basketball. He has completely fogotten about the defensive side of the game. High flying fun and scoring might work in the regular season, but the playoffs are different.

He even traded their only offensive spark in last seasons playoffs - Nick Van Exel. WTF kinda deal was that?

Cuban spends the money and that is fine and dandy, but he needs to let the GM's and the coaches manage the team. Butt the hell out. Hey, but what do I care? I'm a Rockets fan and I hope Cuban keeps messing up the Mavs.

And what the hell do you think makes Cuban so basketball savvy? He was a regular joe before he hit it big time with his internet company. He does not have a stronger baskeball background then most people on this board.

LOL, this post is hilarious. First of all, Cuban and Nellie are at odds reguarding the philosophy of the Mavs. Cuban quietly wants a more defensive team. It is Nellie who craves more offense.

He even traded their only offensive spark in last seasons playoffs - Nick Van Exel. WTF kinda deal was that?

You must not pay too much attention to the Mavs. Cuban didn't trade anybody. It was Nellie and Donnie who decide that NVE's knees were shot. Also, they felt that there was a little too much money tied up in two point guards.

Cuban knows the rule book inside and out. He knows more about the financial aspect then anybody hear. He knows refs tendencies more than anyone in the league. He has a detailed scouting report on every player in the league. He is a student of the game. Do you honestly believe that Cuban, (who is a workaholic), runs the Mavericks and doesn't know a thing about basketball? Do you even remember what the Mavericks looked like before Cuban took over the team? How can you call the guy a moron?

I can tell you don't know much about Cuban or the Mavericks because you keep suggesting that Cuban is making all of the trades. Don Nelson and his son are in charge of all the player personnel moves. Don Nelson (the gm) traded Nick Van Exel not Cuban. If you knew anything about the Mavericks you would know that Nick Van Exel was a disappointment the majority of the time he was in Dallas and really only had one good playoff series.
