I haven't seen an official retirement announcement yet, but the dude is 38 and coming off the least effective season of his entire career. But who knows, maybe someone will sign him for that all-important veteran locker room presence. Regardless, he's done with the Rockets and it's time we bid him a fond farewell. He did everything that was asked of him here, although nothing much was asked. Good luck, Tyson.
Did Tyson have anything to do with the trouble House got himself into under the Bubble? I seem to recall seeing his name linked to it somehow. Maybe I misread something. Wouldn't be the first time.
You recall correctly. First Chandler was implicated too. Then many here felt he was covering for House. Then some rumors of Tyson's wife being angry. Not sure if that was ever confirmed. It seemed both he and House were under investigation. Then nothing more ever was said about Chandler. Sucks we'll probably never get the whole story on this.
Everyone thought that 2001 draft was going to be one of the best ever. Even though it was ultimately disappointing and only Pau and maybe Parker ended up being top-tier players, the draft had a lot of solid pros and 18 of the 28 players picked in the first round played 10 seasons or more, which is a damn good percentage: 1. Kwame Brown 2. Tyson Chandler 3. Pau Gasol 4. Eddy Curry 5. Jason Richardson 6. Shane Battier 8. DeSagana Diop 10. Joe Johnson 12. Vladamir Radmanovic 13. Richard Jefferson 14. Troy Murphy 18. Jason Collins 19. Zach Randolph 20. Brendan Haywood 25. Gerald Wallace 26. Samuel Dalembert 27. Jamaal Tinsley 28. Tony Parker In the second round at 31 you also had Gilbert Arenas who played 11 seasons and has the highest career scoring average of the group at 20.7 PPG with Jason Richardson at 17.1 and 17.0 for Pau. Of course, the 7th pick was Eddie Griffin.
That was the draft I wanted Shane or Joe Johnson. But I thought Eddie would be a great fit with Yao. Wow.
Yao was drafted the following season. Rockets binked that lottery bc we were only supposed to be 5th selection iirc
