LOL. The player has to want to re-work a deal. Tunsil signed that deal for reason. He is not re-working in its first year. And Tunsil is going to accept "a run block metric" in their contract. Come on, now. AND you are not threatening him because you cannot trade him. Internet GM is easy.
lol. Sorry I didn’t add the finesse of negotiations in my post. Tunsil did a 3 yr deal that wasn’t even used as a benchmark for the most recent tackle negotiated deal. You don’t take away guaranteed money. You still give it to him in a new signing bonus and in guarantees over the spread of the new deal. You give him language to allow him to be the number one paid left tackle. You also build in new incentives. You also frame discussions in best interest of team, playing with Deshaun, being a leader, Yada yada yada.
So just like Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson? Lets just throw 2/3rd round picks around like ****ing confetti.
My god it's hard to be a fan of this franchise. It's like yesterday's solid win was too much so they had to even it out by doing something dumb.
If looking at the overall offensive line throughout the NFL, Dotson is ranked fifth in pass blocking. Here is a list of the top five pass blocking offensive lineman regardless of position according to PFF: 1. Laremy Tunsil OT HOU 89.8 2. Garett Bolles OT DEN 89.4 3. Brandon Linder C JAX 89.0 4. Ronnie Stanley OT BAL 88.9 5. Kevin Dotson G PIT 88.8 https://www.behindthesteelcurtain.c...king-guard-according-to-pff-pittsburgh-rookie From a few week ago.
That’s in his rights. But you have the right to trade him as well. Negotiations are always centered around two sides wanting to come to a resolution and are successfully completed when both attain their goals. He wants to be paid as the number 1 LT. The Texans will want a team friendlier deal. The two are not mutually exclusive. The fact his deal wasnt used as a barometer for the next deal up exposes the inherently overpaid nature. 3yr deal is so short, it’s pretty easy to come back to the table after a year. I’m not going to argue opinions with you. That’s how I see it.
if they were going to do this then they should have traded him for a 4th or something at the trade deadline
Is this current? Edit: I do agree that he's very good. Duane Brown has the same overall PFF score (I don't subscribe so I only see their total score average for pass and run blocking). I think people regret the opportunity cost of not keeping Brown around for much cheaper. Edit 2: Duane Brown is an 89.1 and Laremy Tunsil is an 81.3. Woah.
Now someone is going to profit off of our stupidity and he's going to end up being a Super Bowl champion.
He is overpaid because he is the highest paid lineman by 4 million dollars a year. We could have made him the highest paid lineman by a million dollars a year, but BOB is an idiot.
I don't think that's how it works, but not sure. I do recall reading he was the #1 pass blocking lineman, but at the same time remembering his run blocking grade was a 69 or something. I wonder what his breakdown is now. Anyone have a premium subscription to PFF?
