@Buck Turgidson there's a spot in Snook that I’ve heard is legit. The only time I was in Snook I tried a sausage sandwich and it was insanely good.
I assume you are talking about two Czech chicks in Danbury. They are cousins to my wife. I also will assume Buck has never visited that place. take Rhodes rolls (the ones that are not pre baked and need to rise). Let thaw and rise until double spread out on a cookie sheet. Take your favorite good sausage, and cut into appropriate size pieces, and when the dough has risen, wrap it around the individual pieces of sausage, seal them shut with your fingers. Let rise again until double, and bake according to the roll instructions. When browned and beautiful, remove from oven and baste with melted butter. Easy peasy and better than any store bought.
may have to try that next time I’m heading to surf side. That being said, there’s a reason two Czech chicks is rated higher. Aunt’s recipe.
Next time I get lost going to Angleton I’ll try and drop by. The steakhouse in Danbury is legit, I forgot the name.
not to derail, but don’t you live by gilhooleys? Have you been to pier 6 yet? I’m drooling over the menu.
No. Had a reservations last Sunday, but had something come up. All my friends have gone multiple times and say it’s amazing. I’ll likely be going this Sunday. Make sure to get a reservation. It’s a mad house every day of the week.
Now you're making me jealous, I haven't been to surfside in years. And if the Rhodes rolls you're talking about are the ones that come in an orange bag, that's exactly what I use. I've done empanada-type stuff with them too, that's a quality product.
Tinman is the best poster on this board so I'll take that as a complement. I could only wish to be a 99er like him.
I never even thought about a burger there. Huh. I hope to stop there again next year, on a long awaited Houston trip.
I just threw up a bit watching this.... thanks... and ya know what... probably tastes better than Shipleys' coffee.
I think Kolaches came from polish immigrants. There are polish restaurants in Spring Branch but ive never been to one I worked for Sterling Bank out of college. I worked on 19th St and Ashland across from Harold's. Lawarance Shipley II was still alive and we had the Shipley's account. Yes he purposely gave franchises to Vietnamese people. I don't know whats up with Vietnamese people and donuts but whatever. Mr Shipley was also very conservative and kinda of lived on a compound. @dachuda86 . would have loved him I had a Kolache with boudin at a place no longer in business. The sausage was open it was more like boudin without the skin
