Even when vaccines are widely available we will still have a large portion of the US population not taking them. It's sad to see how many are still saying they won't take them because of Bill Gates and/or that they don't want to be microchipped..

Biden will have to deal with the Trump virus that killed 400-500k people before it's all over. USA has 804 deaths/million. Canada with the same landscape has 308 deaths/million. That means that our government is responsible for like 200,000 deaths alone. Blame goes on the politicians and the people who voted for them.

History will NOT remember Trump and the 70 or so million voters fondly.

Let's hope so. But I'm skeptical. Stealing "Fraudulent news" from the 1930s playbook and dumbing it down to 'fake news' was an orchestrated set up that lead to where we are now..an attempt to muddy the waters with complete chaos when it comes to information and facts. Banana Republic style. It nearly worked. More Americans saw through the B.S than not but a more clever, manipulative guy can come along. That's the only thing I fear.
The GOP has shown they love the Maduro style as long as it's their Maduro.

500k is what 1 out of every 700 people in the US?
The flu kills way more every year. If I had to guess 3-4 million every single year.

We now enter the era of the COVID supreme court... and it will be used to overturn Roe v Wade.

Watching the parade online .. where are the masks??

I barely saw one and people are standing very close. The hospitals are getting full. Just watching the sentiment, I have to say we are in for a 3-6 weeks of pain ... mostly self inflicted

It's all about money with the GOP. Disgusting. It's the same with the churches that want that collection plate filled regardless of whether they put people at risk. They want to reap it in, live their lavish lifestyle, then put on a hypocritical face like they act like they care about doing the Christian thing. They use the "money is the root of all evil" to get the money out of the hands of those in need, straight into their pockets.

Tell me, how many who died of the flu got a flu shot?

There is no vaccine available for Covid.
Even when it's finally available for over 320 million Americans, it could be April for the first of 2 doses. Doing nothing to help stop the spread is disgusting. But, that's Trump and the GOP. They are consumed with greed and power over anything with a heartbeat.

As sometime who spent the last year finally really reading into SCOTUS, I'm not that worried. These "radical shifts" are mostly principled logic grounded in thoughtful jurisprudence (other than Trollito, who is smart, but just bends the law to his conservatism, and I guess Thomas, who is less on the thoughtful side and just a straight arrow).

Casey and Roe had very different constitutional justifications. And even if 5 justices see it as unconstitutional now, there are procedural criteria that have to be met, such as reliance factors that would maintain precedence. Only justices who DGAF on those factors would be Trollito and Thomas for different reasons. Barrett is unknown.

I also disagree with the "open season on covid restrictions" take. These are nuanced varying SCOTUS decisions that many times are haven't even been decided on the merits yet. If you look beyond the headlines, there's much more legitimate reasoning to each case than simply saying there are 6 conservative justices now.

I can envision future covid cases where both sides cross over. Definitely keeping an eye on this space.
