Looks like ER is shopping around. According to bskball.com he'll visit Chicago in July. He is reportedly underpaid and is unhappy about getting little playing time since the arrival of Mashburn. I think he'd look good in a Rockets uniform. Maybe Rudy and CD should invite him to visit us. I'm sure ER would rather play for a (possible)contender versus the pathetic Bulls. And last time I checked, we needed a versatile 3. If that doesn't pan out, Cedric Ceballos is also a FA this year.
my take on Webber:If he comes great, if not, oh well.i'm pretty happy with MoT.I've noticed Webber tends to have problems against taller PF, Horry did a nice job on him in the playoffs and noone really noticed.

I would love to see Eddie Robinson from Charlotte in a Rocket uniform. He'll give us nice size and athleticism at the 3. But i haven't heard his name mentioned much on this board or anywhere else. But i believe he would be a nice addition given the playing time.

I think the only reason webber struggled in the playoffs was because he was still injured.

Somebody has finally woke up and realized the talent of Eddie Robinson, he's 6'8" or 6'9" and has a 40" inch vertical and runs like a cheetah. Play's great defense, ask Glen Robinson or Ray Allen and hustles every play. His 3 point or regular jumper is better than Walt's or Shannon's combined, which isn't saying much, but is an improvement. I would go after him with the 23 rd pick to Charlotte and draft Stephen Hunter w/13th or 18th and a power forward.

Why get another underachiever? We already have Kelvin Cato. And Eddie Robinson's shot is *NOT* better than Walt's. Walt had some problems shooting this year, but he's still a good shot. His problem was with getting good looks, more than anything else.

And do you really think the Hornets just decided not to play him too much for hteir healthy? Yeah, he has some great athleticism. Terrific! But he doesn't really produce all that well.

Remember, "skill" is as or more important than "hops."

Haven, thank you. I don't know where people have gotten the idea that Eddie Robinson can shoot--he can't. He would not be a good fit for this team...I'd just as soon have Shandon back.

lol, Robinson is okay, but he is far from an all-around player.

And he is defintely not worth the price he is asking for.

    next!

Seems like some people already got Eddie all figured out. Even calling him an underachiever and comparing him to Cato! Thats pretty harsh. Let me give you some FACTS on ER as well as Shandon and Walt.
Eddie led the NCAA Div II in scoring with 28 ppg while in school. He scored 30 or more 9x, 40 or more 4x, and even 52 once. Despite all that he was not selected in the 1999 draft, but signed with the Hornets as a FA. He led all rookies in FG% at .549 his first year in the league. That includes Brand, Francis, Odom, and Wally S. Last year it dropped only to .531 while playing 17.9 min avg. 7.4 a game, .500 from 3's shooting 2-4 for the season. He prefers his mid range J over standing around at the 3 line.
Shandon last season shot 44% from the field and 27% from 3's on 46-170 shooting for the season. He also avg 8.7 pts in 29.2 min. Pretty impressive [IMG]
I don't like to compare Walt to ER cause they're not the same type of player and he's older. Walt shot better from 3's (.395) than from the field (.394).I don't know if thats good or bad. I guess it depends on how you look at it.
If we don't draft a Rodney W./Joe J. then we shouldn't we pick up ER. We're gonna need him on players like T-Mac, Odom and Miles, Carter, Demarr as well as the two mentioned earlier. Since we'll have zone defenses next year he's gonna be very useful with his long arms and good J. Also, I think we can all agree that shandon has probably peaked as a player, while Eddie has only been in the league for 2 years. He's only gonna get better with more playing time. If we have to chose between Shandon and ER at 4 mill/year, it's obvious who we should take!

I watched Eddie play in a few games and he played pretty well. He has a good FG percentage and can create. He has shown potential and could be a solid starter. I don't know how much he is asking but I think the Rockets should pursue him (and Marc Jackson, Mo Taylor) this offseason instead of Webber.

The Hornets did make an effort to include Eddie in their games. With Wesley and Davis in the backcourt and Mash at SF, not many younger, unproven players will get PT. I haven't heard much about his work ethic but he has shown great potential and athleticism in his 2 years in the NBA.

man532,couldn't agree more..Robinson would be a great fit, but, I too am not sure about his salary demands though.
dp,Club Ced's best days are in the rearview mirror of his cigarette boat.
and WCC...You hit the nail on the head.Webber played through ankle injuries, showed a lot of heart, never said a word..Watching him settle for the jumper and moving around gingerly like that,it's no wonder he had problems dealing inside....no lateral movement either.THAT is not the real CWEBB. Pure and simple, the guy was playing hurt.

Hey DP, I would take ER over Shandon at 4 mil a year also...but the deal I heard ER wanted was like 6 yrs for 36 mil, which I just think is too steep for a guy that's not going to bring much more to the table than Shandon.

Keep in mind that the SF in Rudy's system needs to hit the 3. ER might be more comfortable closer in, but that will just jack with our spacing. If I am not mistaken, Hakeem shot around .500 from 3's as well one season, and he took like 16. 2-4 for the season doesn't equal 50%, it means he has no range.

He is not that good. He has a very inconsistent shot but is very athletic. He might be an option but I think we could get the same type player in the draft without having to pay a free agent price.

Eddie Robinson is the sleeper out there he is awesome.

This is what the Rockets need.

He is young and will continue to improve with playing time.

He is like a mix of Michael Dickersons speed and 3pt shooting, Shandon Anderson like Defense and hussles like Carlos Rogers.

    All-round player!!!

ERob on the Rockets would definitely be interesting...and some high flying fast breaks.

ERob is often compared to as a Poor Man's Vince Carter. His jumpshot is still developing. Basicallly, he's asking for 36$ million because he has the potential to have a breakout like T-Mac had this year. So the hike in price is for his potential.

Maybe if we could ship out Cato and his Huge contract.

Just for thought, would you take in Derrick Coleman if it meant that we could ship out Cato?
