He's great; one of the most underrated players in the NBA. Probably our easiest chip to trade. While Wood does bring badly needed size and skills that were absent from the team, it's hard for me to see any real addition by subtraction here. I don't think you trade a Robert Covington if you are trying to compete for a championship. It's hard for me to believe that the only way to free up enough space to give Christian Wood the MLE was by trading our best asset not named James Harden. If we were going full rebuild and it was about stock piling picks, that's one thing, but it obviously wasn't. So i'm still super skeptical about this move.

When CP3 Iso'd him in the first round of the playoffs, I started laughing and wondering what CP3 was doing. RoCo got murdered! Then they singled out what I thought was the Rockets best defender for the rest of the series. That was really shocking.

You were good, but had been hyped up for so long before we actually got you. People here either chose to forget your struggles in Philly playoffs or just never informed themselves, so when you were meh in our playoff run they were a bit disappointed.

But you were good overall. I don't regret the Capela trade. Good luck in Portland.

Robert Covington One on One Defense against Chris Paul, reminded me of Stephen Curry Destroying Clint Capela on Switches.

Point Guards were seeking Out Clint Capela than Robert Covington.

Expecting a 6-7 guy to guard a skilled PG one-on-one is unrealistic. People just assume that small ball will work if we bring in a bunch of good 3&D players. In order for the switch everything defense to work, the whole team has to play crisp rotation. That takes a lot of concentration and a lot of moving on defense. If you don't do it right, you get beat both outside for lack of speed and inside for lack of size. It's very demanding physically and mentally. It's very hard to sustain through the whole game, let alone through the whole playoffs series.

He is one of those guys that simply finds a way to make timely, winning plays. He belongs on a true championship contender. Good luck, Bobert

We should be running it back with Covington. Imagine how good we could be with him still here. He should be here instead of Gordon.

The #1 reason Chris Paul iso'd Robert Covington was that it guaranteed no help defense could come from Robert Covington. Counterintuitive and brilliant. Like Captain Ramius closing the gap on the Soviet torpedo.

Chris Paul is just smarter than everybody else.

    Gonna miss ya RoCo!

PJ is a slightly better 1 on 1 defender, but overall RoCo is far superior and can lift the entire defensive structure. AND he can pass the ball inbounds and catch it if passed it.

The way he'd meet and deny 7ft'ers at the rim was magical. 50% from 3 in the offs too.

Gone too soon. Way too soon.

Sending RoCo to a West team is going to bite us in the ass.

Should have insisted on Gary Trent Jr in return, rookie GM mistake.

Blazers added RoCo, Derrick Jones, Harry Giles, Ennis Kanter and kept Gary Trent to complement their offensive core of Dame, CJ, Nurkic and Collins.

Blazers will be very dangerous going forward, their defense improved 100%.
