Youre right it did happen. They never transacted

That being said, Manafort's legal issues had nothing to do with the campaign for example in regards to thread topic

You mean the meeting where three of Trumps' top campaign managers including Don Jr met with the Kremlin-linked lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya?
This meeting, which the Trump campaign never denied happened, you are now denying it happened?
The meeting, where we have a documented email that Don Jrs' response to the proposition that the Russians had dirt on Hillary and wanted to talk: "if it's what you say I love it"?

    That meeting never happened?

To be clear, it wasn't just the media feeding into it, it was Trump himself declaring there was "No Collusion" over and over again. People across the spectrum were confused. The FBI was investigating Russian Interference and the contacts people in the Trump campaign may have had with Russians.

While it is not illegal to get together with the Russians and see how they may help you and vice versa, it would be illegal to do so if the intent of that getting together was to commit a crime and they took actions to commit that crime. That's called a criminal conspiracy.

There was no criminal conspiracy found, but there was plenty of other activity that was illegal - for instance obstruction of justice which is a crime Trump was guilty of and got away with.
