The Rockets still need more inside. It is telling that Baynes hasn’t signed anywhere yet. Shaquille Harrison would be a solid target for the back up point guard spot if the Rockets can clear cap space to open up the MLE. There are a number of flawed centers left... Cauley - Stein, Labissieri, Damian Jones, Biyombo, Vonleh, Henson, Maker, Markieff Morris, Dialo, Giles.
Galloway vs Johnson... I'd be very curious about Silas' input on that debate. Defense vs offensive versatility.
I like Craig. That dude plays hard. He shoots at an effective FG% north of 500 so he's eligible for me. He seems to have that Chuck Hayes mentality.
Nets lost out on Ibaka, would probably pivot to Baynes. I don’t think Houston can afford. Would love to have Shaq Harrison.
He's never made more than the minimum. There may reach a point where he has no choice but to take the minimum or leave the league.
T Craig would be a great pickup. Dude was a baller for Denver last year. Give him the MLE and Cousins for the vet minimum.
Have to ship out EGo to open up full MLE to acquire Baynes. Rockets have a window to do something, I believe Weaver could convince him to take a call. But Rockets could be even more aggressive. https://tradenba.com/trade-machine NYK: Russ Westbrook, Ben McLemore ORL: Myles Turner, Kevin Knox, Dennis Smith, Doug McDermott IND: Markelle Fultz, Eric Gordon, Julius Randle, Khem Birch + Rockets FRP HOU: Victor Oladipo, Aaron Gordon, Mo Bamba, Frank Ntilikina + Knicks SRP Rockets gain 9M in cap space, opening up use for MLE and BAE. Harden/Ntilikina Oladipo/Nwaba AG/House Wood/Tucker Baynes (MLE)/Bamba Baynes back on a contender. Celtics cannot offer starting 5 spot, Rockets can. But clock is ticking because Raptors are trying to sign Baynes too.
Love Wood as stretch 5 or even stretch 4 but you are absolutely correct, Rockets need more physicality and size inside. Wood by himself is not enough vs. Ibaka, AD, Joker, Nurkic, Giannis, etc. Baynes would be ideal playing alongside Wood and his game complements both Harden and Russ. Baynes is not the roller or lob threat that Wood is but he has extremely high BB IQ and is proficient in switch defense as well as drop coverage. He would be a great mentor for Wood as well. EDIT: Giles is off the table - need to make this trade happen
I am going to go on record... I would prefer Willie Cauley-Stein to Baynes I think WCS offers more as a switchable big and rim runner. Not as good an outside shot, but could Capela-lite (better perimeter D, worse rebounding)
