Yeah you are getting pretty creative in manipulating your immune system like that. The body is a crazy thing and I get the feeling that the complexity in cell manipulation has to have some side affects we don’t yet know. Traditional vaccines (basically just giving yourself a weak version of a virus) is the way to go, but I have to say that as long as the phase 3 and early phase 4 results are positive and low risk, right now we are at the point where risks need to be taken. This is a pretty dire situation and the economic situation is almost worse than the health one.

Like I said earlier, the Oxford one is the one I am tracking, and interested in. It is based on a proven vaccine.
As a frontline healthcare worker, I tend to agree with @Zboy . We don't know the latent long term side effects, for sure... Just had a conversation with my father about this, actually.
To answer yourself and Zboy yes mRNA vaccine is a new technology that we don't know the long term effects but while the Oxford vaccine is developed using a long standing method it still is a new vaccine that we don't know the long term effects of either. I will agree this is all about risk. At the moment we don't fully know the long term effects of COVID-19 but we do know that it continuing to rage is a bad thing. I think weighing an mRNA vaccine over the continuing and possible long term negative effects of COVID-19 is a risk. The good new though is that since the Oxford vaccine is also proving effective in Phase II trials and is more stable at higher temperatures it might end up being the vaccine of choice for widespread inoculation.
Most of us won’t have to decide anytime soon. I think it will be difficult to get this distributed to all who want it in the next six months. I’m not worried about taking any of the vaccines. If tens of thousands have already taken it with no severe side effects, then I’m not concerned about taking it. I think we are at a greater risk of illness by not taking it, than taking the vaccine. So, I will take the vaccine as soon as it’s available. I will also be trying to get my elderly parents to the front of the line.
I'm gonna get the one that all of y'all test out ahead of time. The whole new vaccine with an experimental method thing is a concern to be honest.
