Regardless whether he blocks shot Wood isnt s good defender (yet). His value right now comes from offense rather than defense cuz thr knock on Wood was his lazy D.

His stats last 2 years (13/6, 17/7) is pretty Anderson-esque imo. If it is closer to NO Anderson then we got a steal. I am also more confident he will surpass Anderson cuz he is only 25.

I do not think Rockets even qualify to make another SnT.

Might need @BimaThug or @aelliott to clarify.

This guy is a match made in heaven for Harden in a pick and roll. The possibility endless since he has range and leap. Tremendous.

We dont even know how good he will be. Half of a season of good play doesnt equate to equal to amazing piece for a franchise. Especially if James Harden is gone. Roco could definetly be had for a good young player AND picks at the deadline.

Is Anthony Bennett going to be healthy.

I hope the Rockets give him a Chance. As a backup Center, who can shoot 3 Pointers.

As long as the proposed deal fits the following criteria, I believe the Rockets can engage in another sign and trade. I see no language that sets limits to quantity of snt,

In order for a sign-and-trade deal to be completed, the following criteria must be met:

    • A free agent must be signed-and-traded by the team with whom he finished the season.
    • If the free agent is restricted, he can’t be signed-and-traded after he signs an offer sheet with a rival team.
    • A team acquiring a player via sign-and-trade cannot be over the tax apron after the deal, and can’t have used the taxpayer mid-level exception.
    • A free agent can’t be signed-and-traded once the regular season is underway.
    • A free agent can’t be signed using the mid-level exception or any exception that doesn’t allow for a three-year contract.
    • A player receiving a Designated Veteran contract can’t be signed-and-traded.

I disagree. Played 62 games with Detroit and averaged 13/6. While that's more or less meh / mundane, Detroit didn't have a guard who demanded attention like a Harden or Westbrook.

I think Wood's numbers are going to be vastly improved. Like, "Most Improved Player" level improved.

He's not as good defensively as Clint is, that's the the thing. We could get Roco for two picks is what I'm saying. And I dont care enough about Woods without being a contender to think he's a real difference maker. They wont ever be able to use that pick because its very heavily protected and they wont be good enough.

I'll say it again, this only matters if we KEEP HARDEN.

The key difference here is that he can't shoot nearly as well ad Anderson did. Also the 17/7 stat is based on a very small sample size.

That's great. That only means something IF AND ONLY IF Harden is staying. Most improved doesnt equal contending piece. And the pieces we will get for Harden arent going to be anything more than a bottom seeded playoff team. That is their ceiling. We do not have good picks for a awhile.

I agree. I think his frame limits him on defense somewhat. I think he would work well next to someone like PJ for that reason. He definitely plays hard though. Maybe on a competitive team (hopefully) he is more locked in on defense. He clearly also hated Casey and I don't blame him.

I don't know that he is as good of a shooter as prime Ryno, especially with Ryans range. Dude was a top tier specialist at one point. It might not be fair to expect that. He definitely has a nice jumper all the same.
I like Woods game more though. He's way more skilled, plays with more intensity, definitely a better defender and a better athlete for sure.
When looking at his numbers, check out what he did with starters minutes the last month of the season for Detroit he was averaging like 25/10.

I watched a lot of his games that last month because he was on my fantasy team. He was so entertaining. Became one of my favorite players. So happy we got him.

All of the other contenders minus Denver and Clips got better. We treaded water or got worse.

This roster isn’t going to compete with
    Lakers
    Blazers
    Nuggets
    Warriors
    Mavs
    Possibly PHX.

But the Rockets FO can't be operating as if Harden is already out the door. Gotta try to convince Harden to stay AND stay competitive at the same time. Those two are positively correlated. With that said, not sure why the RoCo trade was done and then why we got Wood, but yeah.

Giving Harden a floor spacer can only help. A 25 year old PnP / PnR threat that we have for the next 3 years is a big step in the right direction.

I think Wood is most versatile than Anderson, though. Sample size or not. And his defense is apparently pretty good too.

I don't know much about him, so I can only go off articles and stuff, but yeah.

I think its important to remember that his average for the year was somewhat ruined by Casey's foolishness. He played a very limited role behind Blake, Drummond, Markief Morris, Sekou and competed for minutes with Thon for most of the year. He still produced consistently in a limited role. Even after Blake got shut down, and Markief was cut, the pistons started Sekou and Thon until about a month before the season was cut short. Look at his game log for the last month of the season where he actually played over 30 min a game. It's nuts.
