In 4 years when his deal up, if you're the team who gets him you're going to be hoping to retain him at a max.
Clearly, our new GM lurks or posts here. Which one of you is Stoned? Come clean! (or at least take a shower)
Christian Wood is 25 years old with All-Star potential. He has improved dramatically every year. He sometimes looks a little awkward, but he does everything reasonably well offensively, and has the ability to be a pretty good defender. He runs the floor, handles the ball well for someone his size, and has good touch. He's probably not the 38 percent three point shooter he was a year ago, that's likely an outlier, but he can score for sure. If you can pick him up for the MLE, it's a no-brainer that you do it. The thing with him though is that he plays with a chip on his shoulder, and that's the reason why he has improved every year. If he keeps that chip after singing a big contract, the sky is the limit. Will he get complacent? That's the question. He's not good enough to be complacent. I don't think he will be. I like the guy a lot and really hope he ends up in Houston.
deroit having Plumlee/Dedmon and Griffin perhaps they aren’t bringing back Wood. That being said, it might be because he’s about to get a giant deal from the Knicks or something.
