Cato + Wiz = $10.5 mil approx. Throw in Collier, and your'e right at $12 mil. No way is Cat included in the deal. ------------------
Welcome, Kan. If you like these threads, just wait till the season starts. The game action forum gets a bit stale in the off season (Cato + Walt + picks for Kobe gets old after awhile.) ------------------ I always thought "With my talent, it's only a matter of time before I'm discovered". Now I think "With my talent, it's only a matter of time before I'm found out".
I am not holding my breath when it comes to Webber , If he comes GREAT ! if he doesn't then we have MO T. ------------------ When will I reach 1000 posts ?
Thanks, Pinetree. I believe it's $12M +/- 20%, so Walt and Cato would be enough, mathematically. Might as well throw in a pick to get it done. R-R-Us -- Remember, in a S&T, the free agent picks the location: "I'm going to Houston. I'll sign there straight out, or work a S&T so I can get the absolute Max salary." Sac has very little bargaining power (see Toronto and Detroit last year). The only reason Houston gives up anybody good is the possibility that Webber chickens out and takes the absolute MAX salary with Sacto. I think the Cat stays, even if Webb comes to Hou, because Sacramento wouldn't have the bargaining power, not because the Rox would be better with Cutino than Webber. ------------------
What is it with you guys that make it seem like its a sure thing Webber is comming to Houston? I have heard him say the same things about Houston as he has every other team. And for those of you who think Webber will play hard ball with Sac.. S&T me or I will walk, you really dont know what you are talking about. Webber has way to much loyalty to screw Sac over.. he has said as late as last week that he is loyal to Petrie, Aldeman and the Kings.. so why do you think he would threaten to walk? I can't say without a doubt Webber will stay in Sac, but I would bet if he stays in the west, he will stay with the system and guys he is use to, the Kings. ------------------
the point im trying to make is if he is sincere about leaving sacramento because of his disdain for the city, which has been reported for months..i think we end up getting him because lets look at his other options ny-dream,no cap space, best s and t is lj,and cap fillers cuz houston wont play in sacto(no way ur bright gm takes that) orl-theyve been on record saying they wont deal hill,no cap space, thus they cant get it done ind-,no cap space, has best to offer out of s and t, with college buddy rose, but if hes sincere about wanting a more livelier city,he wont go there det-hometown,can sign outright, but chris wants to be on a title contender so nix their chance finally us-sign outright, if necessary s and t mo taylor plus, have excellent young backcourt, needs a dominant post player, houston is a lively city thus out of all teams besides u guys, id say wed have the edge my prediction is that if cwebb sticks to his earlier statements of disliking the city he comes here, if he likes what he already has in sacto, he stays ------------------ How Sweet It Is! >>This may have been the last real year of success for the the aging Kings. The new and upcoming teams next year will be the Mavs,Rockets and Bucks. Also for entertainment and ratings the Wizards.<< The Kings were the youngest team (average age) to win 50 games this year. ------------------ Feel free to visit http://pub52.ezboard.com/fthebleachermobfrm1 for informative, intellegent Kings talk.
KanHoop, someone asked how to get to $12 mil using current players who could be moved. That is all I was providing. I thought the cap rule is that it must be within 15%, rather the 20% to which you made reference. However, that rule does not apply if both are under the cap at the time. Or, if one is under the cap, the trade does not have to be within the parameter. Also, I thought CWebb would get more than $12 mil. I think he would go to $15 mil on a sign and trade. He already makes $12 mil now. ------------------
I think as the season gets closer ,C-Web might look more in depth (depending who we draft)at the Rockets. hint ick up at least one more 7 footer in the off season. ------------------
Pinetree, you're right on the 15 percent. My bad. I'm not up on the rules and salaries like I was at the trading deadline. I remember that you can always trade away MORE salary than you receive, and only 15% LESS than you receive, assuming you are over the cap. If anyone is up on the salary number, I'd like to know it. (I miss sportstalk.com). Dr. Pep, you make a good point. Webber has always been loathe to play the 5-spot, and he may choose to stay with Vlade (whom he says he likes to play with) over Collier& Cato if that all the Rockets wind up with at center. ------------------
SANDB: JUST IMPORT HARLEM...and you'd be fine. Chris Webber just hates goofy white people, which is completely understandable besides he plays with a whole bunch of white guys as well, and there pretty soft. ------------------ -jbond77 "truth be told, my car is dead, and I'm having am radio withdrawl syptoms"
FranchiseCat, I saw that too. It reminded me of Grant Hill continuing to work out at the Pistons' practice facility despite his obvious (if, of course, tacit) intention to leave. ------------------
I have no doubt that C-Webb is having a hard time deciding about Sactown, but it is only b/c he truly likes his teammates. While it may be difficult to leave a group of guys that he genuinely likes having as teammates, I think he is smart enough to realize that his best chance for winning is with another team. JWill has actually regressed since he came into the league and, although I've heard he is C-Webb's best friend on the team, Webber probably realizes his future with the team is running out as well. Divac is going to have the mobility of Sabonis in a couple of years, Scott Pollard is effective only as a PF, and Webber has repeatedly stated he will not play C. Remember, when he was first traded to Sac, he openly said he was going to leave when his contract was up b/c he did not like playing for a non-contender in a boring city. The only thing that has changed about the Kings since then is the players, who he has grown comfortable with and play a style of ball which suits his strengths. However, they still have no chance of beating the Lakers, Spurs, or even the Trailblazers as long as he is their biggest post player, and he still longs for the nightlife of a big city. I think he will end up in the East b/c the Rocks are the only western team with enough money to pay him, but, other than a vastly better backcourt, the talent surrounding him down low would offer even less support than in Sactown. Here's how I rank his possible destinations based on available money, nightlife, and personal relationships(family, former teammates): 1) Orlando 2) NY 3) Houston 4) Sacramento ------------------
If you read the board you can tell that people aren't saying that Webber is coming, they just think there is a chance he is coming. It is obvious that you're concerned about Webber leaving, if you weren't you wouldn't be on a Rockets board arguing about it. Webber HIMSELF said he is considering Houston, take it up with him. I think the reason he is considering Houston is that, not only do they have a strong backcourt, he has two go-to players who aren't afraid to take the big shot and are capable of taking over a game. They are gutsy, and they have no fear. Basically they are mentally tough. Webber has questioned Sacramento's toughness the last few years. THAT is why he is considering Houston. Houston with Webber is better then Sacramento with Webber in my eyes. ------------------ "I'm not here to protect my reputation, I'm here to make my reputation! Just to stir the pot, even more..... 06/19-KINGS GET GOOD VIBES FROM CWEBB- When the media starts talking about Chris Webber, the thing most say is he's dreadfully unhappy in Sacramento. Really? How come he's still there. He's been working out at the Kings practice facility, he's been eating at Sacramento restaurants, even going to his local church every Sunday. Unhappy? I don't buy that, he's still living in the same home, which I have been informed he is RENTING, and doesn't own, but unlike most who are planning major career changes, Chris isn't packing for the great move East that everyone said would happen at the conclusion of the Kings season, in fact beyond the media frenzy over Chris' free agency you wouldn't know he wasn't under contract. The Kings are focused on the draft which they hope to bring in another talented player (someone in the front court to help Chris), they have gotten the good word from Doug Christie who opted out of his deal, and is expecting a better deal from the Kings, something they say they feel strongly they can do. Doug wants to return, and the Kings don't want to trade Jason Williams, so the only real obstacle for the Kings this summer, is convincing Chris they can compete for a title very soon, and that they can add talent to contend with the teams in West, namely the Lakers. So while the media continue to believe Webber is leaving, if he is, he's hiding it very well and has the entire city of Sacramento fooled. ------------------ "...Do you hear 'em? They're everywhere!!! AAAHHH!!!" That's what the other teams will be saying after being shellshocked by Steve Francis and Co.
