This trade cannot be finalized until after the draft I believe so its like they are trading a player and 1 draft pick.

    My first thought process.

You can’t trade first round picks of two consecutive years.
    __________________________
Then find out it’s finalized after trade. Sneaky way of bypassing the rule.

Why? Probably couldn’t get a Westbrook deal done without a first rd pk attached. Knicks or Hornets?

I like both Covington and Ariza but want Covington overvthe older Ariza.......unless it moves Westbrook, keep Harden.

My best guess is we keep Harden......hopefully he plays considering the what cash out of Westbrook brings in talent from a soon to come trade.

Extension of Tucker......Harden really likes Tucker. If Tillman has enough to offer Garden $50 mil per year, then he has enough to go over the cap.

This is actually a REALLY good trade Covington is overrated af and they got two first rounders. Now they just need to dump harden for a couple firsts

Folks are so shook that no one has even started a draft thread for our new pick.

Well I had a second to think and am coming around to this.

two first round. Picks for RoCo is pretty solid plus Ariza has contract value.

wish they got Zach Collins instead or with Ariza but whatevs.

stone has to deal with the hand he was left with and this isn’t bad, especially if he can turn Arizas corpse into something.

If someone doesn't want to be here, **** 'em. He's already got his sights set for the East Coast. He's a ring chaser, not someone in for the long haul.

I've been following this team for over 30 years. I have seen the ups and downs....this is just another bump in the road.

I'm committed to this team for the next 100 years.

Ariza will be waived. Nothing to do with Harden. They are blowing it up

Doesn’t it destroy any leverage the Rockets have trading Covington before Harden in a rebuild?

Too tall. We need a undersized PF who commits turnovers and can't rebound

Yes, another pick in the teens next year would be great but if blazers stay healthy will likely be late teens/early 20's still good value for RoCo. Keep in mind, depending on how Ariza plays you could possibly flip him to a contender for a late 1st or 1 or 2 2nd's.

Tilman is too stupid that he is the reason we are in this mess but let's hope him and Stone have a Crane/Luhnow like rebuild. Our scouting department will need to earn their paychecks. Next up, trade House for the best package you can get. F that guy.

@RudyTBag thought we’d get to enjoy RoCo here for awhile. We got half a season :(

We would have needed a better ring chaser than Westbrook last year.

Ringchasers are there for a reason but that team had to be perfect for them.

    @saleem
    I’m hoping for a 3 team trade between Houston-76ers-Knicks.

    Knicks get Westbrook.....picks (2nd round picks?......swap 1st?)

    Houston gets Simmons......other players.

76ers get one first rd pick from us. Morey loves first round picks to trade in the future.......players? maybe his
Swiss Army knife Eric Gordon (PG-SG-SF-PF)
    ________________

Dealing with 76ers we have to deal with Morey......dealing with Nets we have to deal with D’Anton being there.

Tilman got to swallow his pride to one or the other if he have to deal Harden to 76ers or Nets......might as
well work with one and keep Harden. Morey trying to move Ben Simmons to alleviate big bodies.......we
    can accommodate.

    Everybody wins

Ariza having value makes this trade an A+. He had a very solid run with the Blazers shooting 40% from three in 33 minutes a night. Don't underestimate Ariza's value to contenders who are cash strapped and can only improve via trade. As Clutch mentioned, this still doesn't necessarily mean full rebuild yet. Likely but we need to maintain the illusion that we are still going to retool around Harden and WB to keep any sort of leverage. Once Westbrook is traded and no star comes back to us, then we are likely rebuilding.
