Q1 Should Dwight Howard be in HoF. (also poll)
    Q2 Will he get in?

I'm personally not sure on this one, and maybe his Rockets years has fuzzed my goggles. If I look at the recent superstars in our franchise, Harden, CP3, Russ, think they'll all get in.

    2004-2012 (Orlando - 8 years) - 5/8 in playoffs
    2012-2013 (Lakers - 1 year) - 1/1 in playoffs
    2013-2016 (Houston 3 years) - 3/3 in playoffs
    2016-2017 (Atlanta 1 year) - 1/1 in playoff
2017-2018 (Charlotte 1 year) - did not make playoffs
2018-2019 (Washington 1 year) - did not make playoffs
    2019-2020 (Lakers - 1 year) - 1/1 in playoffs

At his twilight years, he became somewhat of a journey man, as big man who don't shoot 3's find themselves.

Probably yes, he has won multiple DPOY, a dunk contest, lot of All-Star selections. He has a ring too. He was a beast in his prime.

Also, not related but I remember some years ago, some people here on Clutchrans were saying that Iverson and Vince Carter were not HOF material, mainly because their advanced stats were not impressive. Had to throw that in here just to let you know how ridiculous that was.

No doubt. I wish he would have been about 5 years younger when he played with Harden. Same with Paul. Same with Westbrook.

He is first ballot most likely. The fact that we all dislike him ,doesn't change the fact that during his prime he led a team to the finals, won 3 or 4 defensive player of the year, was a 4 or 5 time NBA 1st team, and clearly the best center of his generation.
Its sad to see that he never evolved his game, his potential was even higher, but don't forget that the injuries to his back really derailed the last good years he had.

I think it's close and maybe he gets in, but I don't think he'll have a ton of votes over the minimum. I personally wouldn't put him in there. He had a good 8 years with Orlando then flopped the rest of his time in the league. Maybe the rebounding gets him in? That with the Finals appearance when he was younger. The chip doesn't do anything for me because he wasn't really that big for the Lakers.

Basketball hall of fame lets any player with 5 good years gets in essentially...

...the selection for coaches for some reason is far more strict.

He certainly deserves it. A lot of people have forgotten how dominant he was, especially during his Magic times. Howard leaving Lakers after only one year traded to them, to join Rockets is still one of my fondest memories.

The basketball hall of fame isn't nearly as prestigious as people think. It's harder to be All NBA 1st team than to make it in the hall of fame. They've set a bad precedent by letting the likes of Mitch Richmond, Bill Bradley, Gail Goodrich, Dave Bing in. Even Reggie Miller has a total of... wait for it... 3 All NBA 3rd teams. That's it. So given all that, for sure Dwight is in. And most of the time, the answer to any debate on this topic is, yes he'll be in.

Part of me agree with this from a fan's perspective. I think the HoF is also a recognition by their peers, which for the players/coaches/refs..etc may mean more to them than just what us fans place.

That said, I was happy when Rudy T got recognized. Not just because he was worthy but the accolades came in his time in HOU. Even T-mac, since he spent a good chunk of his career here.

I think Dwight will be known for his time in Orlando. Not sure if first ballot, maybe he has done enough to warrant a case.

He will get in and deserves to. He was great in Orlando and really good for us for year 1 and parts of year 2 before he then became a league wide joke. But long enough and high enough peak and long enough career to accumulate some numbers to where he is a no doubter.

Are you putting Vince Carter in there? Then Dwight should go to.

He is a 1st ballot HOF. He is 3xDPOY + 5 all nba first teams. He is old and washed up now, but in his prime he took a team to the finals.

He has made most All NBA 1st team than David Robinson

    Definitely not a first ballot.

Maybe. If he can repeat what he did last year for another 3-4 years I think he might get more people on his side.

But as of now no. He does have a case and can make his resume stronger next few years.

Some of you really dont know a lick about basketball. He'd be 1st ballot even if he retired 5 years ago
