Yeah, you make another good point here that i actually didn't even consider, the Knicks just signed Thibs, i have a hard time thinking about him being ok in coaching rookies on a tanking season.
I don't believe in any media conspiracy or the sort with regards to Russ' value. When Nick Wright says he thinks we can get Brogdon and Turner he 100% means it. When Lowe says we might need to add assets just to dump he also 100% means it. Russ has long been the most polarizing player in the NBA cause in my eyes 2 different players exist: Bestbrook who's a top 10-15 player and Westbrick whos a top 70 player who hurts your team and sadly there's never an in between. You never know who you get any night. How you view Russ basically comes down to if you're a glass half full or half empty person. I personally don't think he's worth much but the good thing is that we just need 1 shining idiot out of the 29 options to over value him and we're golden. I have a feeling it might be Charlotte cause of desperation and the Jordan connection but you can straight up remove any smart FO from consideration. With an unknown commodity you always tend to stick with the lower end value.
Nick Wright can say that but I would be shocked if the Pacers ever offered Brog and Turner for Westbrook.
That's exactly my point. Westbrook invites the extremes. Some people think he's incredible and others think he's trash and nobody is lying. I doubt we get anything close to that too because unlike us who can over or under rate him for free, a GM could lose his job so he'll always err on the side of caution.
I agree with this, I think he's got negative value because of his age and contract. I think we'd have to give up pick(s) to get rid of him. I can't imagine anyone is stupid enough to give up real assets for Westbrook, but like people have said over and over, it only takes one team. Charlotte and the knicks both have a reputation for being dumb and making bad moves, so we can pray that one of those teams gives up solid pieces and/or picks for him.
It only takes one .... but if there are 2-3-4 teams then there could be a bidding war .... best case for us.
Considering his age, his contract, and his shooting skill vs the level of skill the league is requiring in terms of three point shooting he has a negative value imho. You add in his attitude on the floor and it's like a double negative value. You can't have a guy leading a team who is a hot head and can't keep his composure when some idiot in the stands insults his momma. If anyone offers any kind of young talented player or even a first round pick you fall all over yourself to take that trade and clear cap space if you can.
Blake Griffin is risky but makes sense the most sense if you want Harden to give it another year. If they trade Russ to clear cap space that is a good sign James told Stone that he wants out.
I think there are many teams that do understand how difficult it is to get a superstar and have had a dry spell that will make them more desperate to obtain him.
id rather run it back with russ than trade him for griffin. he is beyond done. even when he is healthy his defense is trash. hes got alligator arms.
If we're going to trade WB just for cap relief, we might as well not trade him. Boo hoo, WB and Harden wanted to play together. You don't just ask out after one season, especially when we have a new coach and is going a new direction in the offense from the one he didn't like last year. Giannis ain't coming here in free agency. We're going to get worse if we trade WB for scraps, I'd rather see another second round exit than a first.
