I was just pointing out the year he was MVP, when they played the Rockets in the first round, his plus/minus was better than the teams every game and in fact was positive every game except for the first one. I remember watch g and the second Billy took him out the Rockets would go on like 10-0 runs. overall his playoff play hasn’t been great. i don’t want him on the team. But I’m not giving him away. He can sulk for all I care. No way in hell am I giving up draft picks unless it’s crazy obvious upgrade.
this has zero to do with being “fair” to Silas - he got a head coaching gig and accepted the contract knowing full well what could go down. Furthermore, any championship aspirations for this team are extinguished. There is no shifting of the deck chairs to save this sinking ship. it’s awesome that you’re still passionate and want to give it a go with this team- but harden is no Hakeem. There is no Sam cassell or Robert horry on this roster
For me this is as much about Harden as Westbrook. The common denominator in all the issues with star players has been James. We know he doesn’t like to be held accountable/ responsible, to be challenged or to have the ball taken out of his hands while easy to point the finger. If you want to blind yourself just because Harden reportedly wants to be here, be my guest. All I know is what I see and hear and I don’t ever recall Harden being described as the best teammate unlike Westbrook so it’s not just Westbrook being a dick or something. We know Ariza had his issues with Harden and clearly Tucjer as well, so it’s not just stars. I know players just accept his negative side, they tolerate him. MJ, Lebron and Kobe managed to deal with other stars, no matter how destructive. Probably because they held themselves accountable and accepted criticism and or stepped up. I’ve never really liked Harden, had his jersey for a week, never wore it and sold it. Couldn’t bear myself to wear a jersey of a guy that willingly pisses away his talent. It’s not T-Mac level bad, but it is pretty bad. He’s made the steps towards a decent defender, but offensively still wants it to be about him. And then when he loses, no self-reflection, always vague and deferring. I am more than done, but hope he proves me wrong by showing he can change. At least give us one year where you give it your all James! Where you just lay it all out there, do whatever Silas asks to make the offense work, and just be humble. The diva attitude has to go or you will just need to go and trust me that many won’t shed a tear over it. Maybe only because no championship window, but I’ve never felt there was one, even in 2018. That’s not just Harden of course, but I’ve never felt he had it in him to deliver when it matters most. All in all, happy to have been part of seeing a young man grow into an offensive genius but that’s about it. This era has left a bad taste already with the could’ve beens and what ifs, but Harden leaving now without ever seeing him take the most important step as a star player would just be sad and infuriating. James, please show me wrong and step the **** up. This is your doing, you wanted Westbrook and turned away CP3 so deal with the consequences. Even if only for one more year. Show us you can change. Do it for Houston! Or not, ask for a trade and just leave, because another year with Harden going through the motions would be a big FU to everyone and just all-round bad. It’s already tough as it is, dealing with Tilman and Westbrook wanting to leave. So rather you say goodbye now, probably best for all involved.
You’re right. Russ might regain some value as he gets healthy. He does need to be the spear of the attack, but he should realize , it’s best for the team for James and him to rotate the strike. It’s up to Silas to instill this philosophy. Harden and Westbrook will be able to conserve their energy, and lead the team. This will improve their trade value, if nothing else. I feel Harden is more likely to accept this than Russ.
Unfortunately this is the mess we’re currently just in. For me, the biggest thing is getting rid of him. My expectations on his value is what it is.
If we can get Blake and Woods out of this deal I think we are good. Still probably need one more athletic playmaker that can shoot
Funny cuz last off-season we were certain that getting to play alongside lifelong bff Westbrook would have him hyped for the season. Now we're hoping he'll be hyped to get rid of lifelong bff Westbrook.
I don't see Westbrook leaving. They'll talk it up to keep him. I'm sure Silas offense will be a lot better than Small Ball. But I wouldn't mind trading Westbrook for Blake Griffin.
Dolan is just as bad as Tillman but he will probably go back to averaging a triple double in New York so that won’t be a issue
I I want Blake and if we can get him without dumping Westbrook that would be interesting to see if Westbrook changes his tune and if Ibaka would take a discount to come here too. nevermind there is no way we can get Blake without trading either Westbrook, Tucker and/or Covington
