After a bad or horrible night/week/month/year, some good news!

Some of the replies are hilarious. Some of you guys can't celebrate a good hire because Tilman is still the owner of the Rockets, lol.

    BANG!

I called this in the coaching thread as someone to look out for a long while back.

Appears to be a strong hire. Not a big surprise but it does lend me to believe that with his experience rebuilding teams that may be the immediate direction of the team.
Also, may make the signing of Jae’Sean Tate more likely.

This is a really good hire. The guy began his coaching career in Texas, and is analytically brilliant

Exactly people will understand once they see the philosophy and strategy not to mention the in game adjustments. I'm proud of what we've done coaching wise.

    Tilman you sly dawg

@Nook Thoughts I think you said before Tilman wouldn’t spend or this and that and that there was no way rockets would hire weaver or something along those lines.

How is our coaching staff looking like now?

I’m genuinely happy about the coaching search turnout.

I cannot help but think that the off-season is going to be characterized by 1) extreme noise around the Rockets organization 2) but if you filter out all the disagreeable rahrahrah, the team is inching towards a better direction.

until I wake up and realize that Fertita is still the god damn owner.

Weaver is the brains behind the Nets defense under Kenny Atkinson, emulating the Bogut led GSW defense.

His system is heavy on switching and drop coverage.

I am intrigued to say the least.

Kudos to @Nook - he called it!

    This is HILARIOUS.

Weaver's weakness is that he OVER adjusts in the postseason (expanded his rotation to 9 and gave his star players fewer minutes a la Budenholzer) OR he takes too long to adjust the defense when it is getting burned (letting opposing team go super saiyan shooting jumpers vs. drop coverage).

I hope to the high heavens that Silas is an adjustments genius because his staff, every single one of them sucks at it.

Weaver (as a head coach) I would say his weakness is that he is very rigid on his substitution patterns, and probably plays too long a rotation. If he has 11 guys whom he thinks deserve minutes, he gets all 11 minutes on what almost feels like a schedule - almost a college-esque system. A bit like Brad Stevens when he started. Sometimes you just need to go with whomever is hot.

Having said that, as assistant coach, I doubt he has the final call on rotation items, so much ado about nothing there.

Basketball nerds aren't getting the best out of superstars or pushing them when the effort isn't there. This is a HORRIBLE hire and it'll hurt Silas when we're giving up 125pts and the media is blaming HIM. Its like we're setting him up to fail. The Rockets needed a no nonsense guy with experience as a player/coach. Will Weaver will get pushed around and ignored by Harden and others
