I'm okay with this. He's an up and comer, someone was going to give him a shot sooner or later. He'll be a short term rental though. It won't hurt to have him on the staff at all.
I mean, at least it's not Kevin McHale, can't be worse than that, right? Reading up on him, I like it as the best of available choices that were left. At this point, what matters is what happens in free agency.
I'd much MUCH rather have Will Weaver than some ex player whose only qualification is that they played the game before. Weaver is a basketball nerd. He's also a pace guy, and his hire tells me that the Rockets aren't going to abandon what made them successful most recently. What he will do, however, is add some offensive wrinkles, along with Silas, that they did not have before. You'll see more of an actual structured offense under those two guys to go along with the pace. It's a good hire. Very Morey like hire actually. I'm impressed.
