I see it more as Morey was stuck between a rock and a hard place. He did the best he could with what resources were provided. He inevitably became a yes man and signed off on a deal that mortgaged the future, a deal he would never make if it were his own call with Russ. He saw the writing on the wall with how tellman was running things and bailed before he was the one to be blamed and assigned clean up duties on a major catastrophe, in which the Rockets are in now. He had no more say in anything- not a coach, not on major roster moves and definitely not on spending money. Thanks tellman, you broke ****.
lol at other Rockets complaining about touches when they were playing 4 on 3 all game and did absolutely NOTHING when the opportunity arose...
sounds like this all starts with Tillman. The rockets team seem to depend on the partnership b between DAntoni and Morey. Tillman it seems flexed on them and Morey and Dantoni took their ball and went home leaving Tillman and his ego with a dumpster fire. Just look a it you would have to have Morey to get out of this deal. Morey and Philly will eventually get James Harden because Till man thinks like a billionaire, he could never listen to the requests of a millionaire. At this point our beloved team will sustain a quick death or long agonizing death. Harden is not going for having less control
Westbrook was one of the least efficient volume scorers in the league and shot the ball MORE than Harden did per game. We catered our roster to the only specification that would actually allow HIM to flourish, even though it would severely hamstring our chances against bigger teams. And he has complaints?
didnt't expect that russ would be such a coward. played bad and want to leave. stone shouldn't trade him. russ must stay and play, he has a contract
Respect for PJ though. Doesn't b***h about not getting 20 shots a game because he realizes that he is limited offensively, but still gives 100% effort on both ends of the floor. Don't blame him for being a bit upset about his contract either.
Lol, if only he'd gotten on better with Dwight Howard we'd....still have Dwight Howard? Seems like he got on pretty well with CP3, they won ~120 games in 2 years despite CP3 missing 30% of them. Maybe the problem is getting past their prime players with max deals and pairing them with a prime Harden and expecting them to age gracefully?
I don't get the "This team needs accountability and a culture change - I'm leaving!" part. That just seems like he wants to either be in control of a team or has a specific destination he wants to go to because damn-near every major facet of the organization has just changed, so how can you assume all that happened before will continue? The GM, the coach, some assistants, etc. are all gone and/or changed. I'm guessing he didn't like it when Silas said they would pretty much play the same way with some tweaks, and thought that wouldn't be enough? Anyway, I'm still on the blow it up bandwagon. Poor Silas.
Is there an option to keep him against his will? I loved 2020 January/February Russ. How set is he to leave HTown and buddy Harden? He's not sold on a culture change after hiring Silas for his new movement offense?
Yeah the James Harden runs off every star player he teams up with is a laughable “truth” that some people just love to run with. CP3 is the only player still worth a damn that he had any problems with. And at the time of the split, how much of a damn he was still actually worth was very much in question. We wanted Dwight gone and we want Westbrook gone even more.
Yeah, I agree, he did the best he could going all in with what he had, and it’s definitely not all his fault, but the roster he left us with is a laughing stock. This team is old, dysfunctional, and has very little to work with for improvement. Daryl is smart enough to know all of this. I’m not sure even he could fix it, and I’m guessing that he knew that, and so he got the hell out while he could. And who can blame him? He won’t be remembered for what this team is going to look like in a few years, which could be pretty bleak. It’s not Morey’s fault, per se, but he’s definitely complicit in this mess. Even still, I probably wouldn’t change it. He had the balls to try something different, and it was fun for a while!
Just remember teams under the cap share the "tax" from teams in the luxury tax .... He could make money from sucking.
Where are those losers that were all optimistic and told everyone things are just fine. and the problems were morey and mda. they're gone now so problems solved. they were talking all day long ever since both left. it's mighty quiet now. asking for a friend @HP3
This laughingstock of a team fielded the historically most prolific scoring duo EVER and was a whisker away from finishing 3rd in the STACKED West. Not to mention was the BEST defense in postseason. Sometimes CF expectations are ridiculous.
