Lockett would be less likely to develop here. No telling when he might have ended up in BoB's dog house and then shipped off for a 7th rounder or outright cut.
Honestly, the Texans should file a lawsuit against Bill O'Brien. He's caused irreparable harm to this organization for the next 4 years. He will cost us best QB in the team's existence to leave along with wasting the talent of what could have been the best defensive player of the decade.
You wouldn’t have a team without Bob McNair. His bid was so much more than unorganized LA, it forced the NFL to put LA on a time limit (which they didn’t meet).
We'd have a team. Could have been any other Oil and Gas billionaire. This is the 4th largest city in the country. The Raiders or Rams would have ended up here.
Fairly presumptuous. A lot of factors had to go right for Houston, and wrong for LA in 2002 for a team to end up here. However back then, cities that could build or renovate new stadiums for teams were looked at as ideal places regardless of TV market. That soon was rendered less important with the TV money being exponential, and now the NFL does ultimately regret the expansion into Jacksonville, letting the Oilers move to Tennessee, and not having a team (let alone 2) in LA for almost 2 decades. Franchise values overall would be much higher with teams solely in larger markets. Houston qualifies... but there's a fairly good chance they'd not have had a team till this past decade, and even then LA would likely still be the first option.
While I know everyone wants Eric B the chiefs will be in the Super Bowl most likely Joe Brady Robert Saleh prolly Greg Roman (not high on) Matt Eberflus Brian dabolls will prolly be available by then colts and bills I don’t see going far ravens and 49ers panthers won’t be in the offs I have a feeling it will be someone we can interview and hire right after the season especially since we been looking for a GM and coach all season
Raiders were always going to stay on the West Coast. Rams didn't move til almost 20 years later. As for an O&G Billionaire, no one else stepped up and offered $700 million ($1,115,200,247.99 in 2020 dollars), which was $200 million more than LA (LA had no Stadium plan....) and about $350-$400 million more than any Expansion fee paid before. With the Stadium Financing, It was a Billion dollar package in 1998 dollars.
There has not been an expansion since the Texans. You would have had to LURE a team. Chargers? The old owner was terrible and his children are not much better. They don't want to spend money. Rams? Again....almost 20 years before they moved. It could have been almost 2 decades before Houston got a team. No other teams have moved. Then you have the Jerry Jones factor. He allowed Bob McNair to get a team without a fight from him (He feels Texas is Cowboys' country) because he was friends with McNair.
Pure Speculation. Someone would want the Houston market. This trashbag organization is valuable simply for being located in Houston. I could take or leave what the texans have been. Fans certainly don't owe the McNairs a damn thing for being graced with their pet project.
It took LA 20 years to get another team after the Raiders and Rams left. LA is the 2nd largest TV Market in the country. And Im speculating?
Houston would be used as leverage to get teams to LA, which only was finalized 2 years ago. Then Vegas would be in direct competition with the Houston market, which Jerry Jones helped engineer and he'd no doubt welcome a team in Vegas over direct competition in Houston. Which current team out there besides the Rams/Chargers/Raiders (who were always likely to stay near the west coast) would be up for re-location? If Houston didn't get the expansion team in 2002... there is very little chance they'd have another team here.
We have no idea how it would have played out with Houston as an open market Hero worshipping a guy for bringing you a football team is just sad. The McNairs are BAD football owners. Nationally, the texans have been considered a joke for their entire existence.
