If Ibaka agreed to do a friends discount. That would completely unlock this team. Re-sign Jeff and Bruno for vet min too. Replace Rivers, Luc, Demarre contracts with Tyler Johnson, Ryan Broekhoff, Jonah Bolden. Russ/TJohnson Harden/EGo PJ/Nwaba/Broekhoff RoCo/Bruno Ibaka/Green/Bolden House and McLemore are trade bait/shed cash to add TMLE player.
My biggest fear is if the lakers get him then it will be curtains for the west. I hope he stays in toronto(unlikely) or we sign him for the full MLE.
That is a weird regular season team with 6'8 Lebron, 6'10 AD and 6'10 Ibaka as the core. Still needs another ball handler. But it will be devastating in postseason.
How can we realistically get him here though? I don’t think Toronto would be interested in Gordon’s contract. The only path would be unloading Gordon to a team with massive cap room to create a trade exception and then engage in a S&T deal with Toronto, which I don’t see happening.
If they lose Van Vleet and are talking about trading Lowry as well, they could definitely use someone like Gordon. It really all depends on what happens with those two. The Rockets could pull off a sign and trade, if they are both gone.
I think we can sign and trade, but I don't think Masai is taking Gordon with anything less than a mid first round pick attached. We're locked into Westbrook and Harden. There's no way we succeed with 5's who can't shoot. Didn't work with Harden vs Warriors, and doesn't work with Westbrook vs anyone.
